PSM19820923PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 23, 1982
• The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman Colburn.
Also present were Committee Members Nilsson and Tomczyk and Ald.
Penovich and Mayor Salentine and Chief Scholz.
Several citizens appeared before the committee to discuss "No
Parking" signs on Muskego Drive, locations of signs being to
• close to trees, another sign placed in front of a parking are
in front of a residence. The citizens suggested that the signs
be moved 500 ft. back from Martin Drive. Ald. Colburn suggested
that a meeting of all the citizens in the area be held in the
future in order to get more input from all citizens in this area.
The committee feels that moving these signs further away from
Martin Drive will bring those cars now parked on Martin Drive
back onto Muskego Drive.
The committee discussed water regulations on Little Muskego
Lake. Ald. Colburn will ask Mr. Jerry Warda to discuss this
past summer problems at their meeting in October.
Mayor Salentine and Ald. Colburn discussed with the committee
their meeting with a representative from the Department of
Transportation . The representative stated that the results
of the latest vehicle and pedestrian study do not qualify the
intersection of Lannon Drive and S.T.H. 24 for signals however,
it is possible that using a combination of some warrantsthat it
• does qualify. The committee moved to have Ald Colburn write to the
Department of Transportation to explain our position and once again
request traffic signals at this intersection.
Chief Scholz reported on a survey in the area of Belmont Drive and
Cornell Drive. The majority of residents in the area are not
overly concerned about the situation. There is a stop sign at
Belmont Drive and none on Cornell Drive. Ald. Penovich appeared on
behalf of a neighbor on Belmont Drive who has a child who was
almonst hit by a car while riding a bike by this intersection.
The committee will request that Mr. Bertram erect a "Caution
Children at Play" sign on Cornell Drive for east bound traffic near
the intersection of Belmont and Cornell Drive.
Chief Scholz also reported on the number of alarms that his
department responded to during five months of this year. The current
ordinance does not have a penalty for recurring alarms from same
establishment. Ald. Nilsson will give a report next month of
surrounding municipalities alarm ordinances.
The committee reviewed communications and rescue reports and placed
same on :file,
The meeting adjourned at 8:60 P,M.
