MINUTES OF MEETING HELD AUGUST 19, 1982
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman Colburn.
Also present were Committee Members Tomczyk and Nilsson and Police
Chief Scholz.
• Ald. Colburn reported on the progress of his request for a proposed
traffic light in the area of Lannon Dr. and S.T.H. 24. He indicated
that he and Mayor Salentine had met with two members of the Wisconsin
Department of Transportation. They presented Ald. Colburn a recent
(Aug., 1982) traffic count report. They also gave him a manual from
the stated entitled, "Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices" which
will be given to Supt. Bertram.
Ald. Colburn reported the city clerk had sent a letter to Mr. Burgeson
regarding informational signs at lake accesses. Signs are not erected
at this time.
The committee discussed the intersection of Bay Shore Dr. and Richdorf
Dr. A police department has revealed that no accidents have occurred
at this intersection since prior to 1979. Ald. Tomczyk reported that
he has observed this intersection on three different occasions and
has not observed any dangerous conditions.
• Ald. Nilsson will review with the Rules, Laws & Ordinance Committee
the status of a proposed ordinance relating to the placement of house
numbers.
The matter of the placement of "No Parking" signs in the area of
Muskego Dr. and Hardtke Dr. was discussed. Ald. Tomczyk presented
a petition signed by 38 local residents requesting that "No Parking"
signs be placed on each side of Muskego Dr. and both sides of Hardtke
Drive. Two residents of the area appeared at the meeting to discuss
the problems that occur on weekends regarding the large number of
visitors to Idle Isle and the overflow of parking. Ald. Tomczyk
moved to recommend to Council that "No Parking" signs be installed
on the west side of Muskego Dr. to Martin Dr. and on the south side
of Hardtke Dr. from Muskego Dr. to Martin Dr. on Saturdays, Sundays
and holidays. Seconded by Ald. Colburn. Motion carried unanimously.
The committee discussed the request for "No Parking" signs on McShane
Dr. in the area of Bluhm Park. Ald. Colburn moved that "No Parking"
signs be installed on the north and south side of McShane Dr. from
the east boundary to the west boundary of Bluhm Park. Seconded
by Ald. Tomczyk. Motion carried.
Ald. Nilsson requested information from Chief Scholz regarding the
number of false alarms the department encounters in a month. The
Committee will again discuss the matter at their next meeting.
• Ald. Colburn read a letter from Mr. George Vogel, Field Dr., requesting
that"No heavy trucking" signs be placed on Field Drive. His complaint
states that Waste Management trucks are using the road. The committee
directed Ald. Colburn to write a letter to Waste Management regarding
this problem.
Ald. Penovich requested Chief Scholz to supply him with an accident
report for the intersection of Cornell Dr. and Belmont Dr.
The committee reviewed communications and reports were reviewed.
The meeting adjourned at 8:05 P.M.
