PSM19820607INFORMAL PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING POSSIBLE REGULATIONS OF
ACTIVITIES ON LITTLE MUSKEGO LAKE
JUNE 7, 1982 - 7 30 P.M.
The hearing was held before the Public Safety Committee of the City
of Muskego and -was called to order at 7 30 P.M. by Chairman Charles
Colburn. Also in attendance were Committee Members Tomczyk and
Nilsson. Present in the audience were Mayor Salentine, Ald. Klenz
and Treba and those persons as per the attached list.
Following are some of the comments made at the hearing -
Hal Cook - Spoke in favor of "no wake" until 9 00 A.M. and after
6:00 P.M.
Roger Pickert - Spoke in favor of waterskiing during some hours.
Marvin Strasser - Statedthat when he goes to work at approximately
there are only 3 or 4 boats on the lake.
Don Tanguay - Spoke in favor of limiting motor size on the lake.
Pete Heisler - Said there are no posted rules at launch site.
• Bruce Mills - Spoke for Little Muskego Lake Anglers Club. He said
power boaters have no regard for fishermen. He felt
there should be a 10 m.p.h. limit before 9.00 A.M.
and 6 00 P.M.
Mary Goodson - Stated there are law now. He felt present laws are
adequate and should push for strong enforcement. He
said that a 10 m.p.h speed limit would not be a good
idea.
Joe Paczesny -spoke in favor of the Anglers Club.
Dick Renk - Does not want more regulations.

Vic Murn - Spoke regarding safety. He feels that if there are set
hours that there will be a greater concentration of boats
during these hours. He says that there are only a few
good weather days to be shared by all.
Phil Socher - Feels there should be hours of "no wake".
Clayton Leverence - Said between Holz Island and East Shore should
be closed to boats.
Bruce Mills - Spoke in favor of Anglers Club and the enforcing of
current regulations.
Bill Nay - Said he feels everyone should be able to share the lake.

Mike Fitzgerald - Said the anglers should try to understand the
skiers and vice versa.
Bob LeMaster - Said he has lived on the lake for 25 years and does
not want more regulations. He feels a list of
curtesy rules should be posted at the launch site.
Steve Eisler - Says maybe there could be a limit to the number of
boats allowed on the lake at any one time.
Chairman Colburn - He advised the water patrolman does now have
arrest powers.
Mike Koelpen - Mentioned that there is a city ordinance of 150 feet..
Pete Burgeson - President of the Little ➢4uskego Lake Association.
He stated that their group feels there are enough
laws currently; he offered to moderate discussion
between anglers and power boaters. He further stated
that Water Patrolman, Jerry Warda, has to warn
violators before citing them for violating city
ordinances,
Mike Cook - Mentioned that the lake is 540 acres, he feels that there
should be regulated hours.
Jim Brown He wondered how more regulations could be enforced; he
said current ones are not.
Mike Fitzgerald - He wants the lake association to publish ordinances
in the Muskego Sun - give same to his members and post
at launch sites to save the city the expense.
Marc Golon - Suggested a sticker on boats for residents v/s non-
residents.
Clayton Leverance - Would like power boats to stay away from weed
cutter
Mary Strasser - Feels anglers sometimes block areas intentially with
their boats.
Bob LeMaster - Would like noise of some boats controlled.
Vic Murn Said Pewaukee Lake outlawed one of the transom pipes to
eliminate the loudest motors.
Jim Hanson - Says fish are injured in shallows by boat props in the
spring when spawning.
