MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JUNE 25, 1981
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 P.M. by Chairman Knudsen
Also present were Committee Members Steinberg and Klenz, Mayor Gottfried,
Ald. Radtke and Police Chief Scholz.
The minutes of the meeting held May 7, 1981 were reviewed and placed
on file.
The committee would like to be kept informed of the Public Works
Committee's decision regarding shadow lanes on S.T.H. 24 at Lakes
Parkway. It was recommended the shadow lanes be installed as soon
as possible.
Water Patrolmen's salary and boat maintenance were discussed. Ald.
Knudsen advised the water patrolmen had not received paychecks as of
this date. This matter should be mentioned at the Finance Committee
meeting to see if there is a bookkeeping problem Chief Scholz will
also check on possible reimbursement for schooling expenses incurred
by water patrolmen.
The speed limit on S.T.H. 24 between Lannon Dr and Bay Lane was
discussed considerably. The committee noted there have been ten
accidents in the 0.6 mile stretch of highway. Ald. Klenz moved
to have the State High Dept. study the area to see if if would be
• possible to lower the speed limit to 35 mph. Seconded by Ald. Knudsen.
Motion carried with Ald. Steinberg voting "no"
The intersection of Parkland Dr. and Briargate Lane was discussed.
Ald Klenz moved to recommend to Common Council a "Yield" sign be
placed at the northeast and southwest corners so that traffic on
Briargate would yeild to Parkland Dr. traffic. Supt Bertram will be
notified. Seconded by Ald. Steinberg. Motion carried.
The committee discussed with Chief Scholz the sewer alarm procedures
used by telecommunicat6rs. It was recommended the Sewer Committee
work out a callback policy with Mr. Kibbe.
Ald. Knudsen moved to recommend to Common Council a "Yield" sign be
placed on the northwest corner of Simandl Dr. at Williams Dr. and
that a "Yield" sign be placed on the northwest corner of Lochcrest
and Hillside Drives. Seconded by Ald. Steinberg. Motion carried.
Ald. Knudsen suggested the police department explore the possibility
of using compact, economical unmarked squads. Chief Scholz will 17
review the matter.
Ald. Radtke requested that temporary "No Parking" signs be placed
in the area of Muskego Dr. and Hardtke Dr. for the summer months.
Mayor Gottfried will check to see if a resolution was passed
previously regarding this matter.
Communications from the Building Inspection Department were reviewed.
The Tess Corners Rescue Reports were reviewed and placed on file.
The meeting adjourned at 9:15 P.M.
