PSM19810507• PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MAY 7, 1981 The meeting was called to order at 7!08 P.M. by Chairman Knudsen. Also present were Committee Members Steinberg and Klenz,. Ald Penovich and Police Chief Scholz. Ald. Knudsen moved to have Ald. Klenz be Secretary of the Committee Seconded by Ald Steinberg. Motion carried. The minutes of the previous meeting held 3/19/81 were reviewed and placed on file. The committee once again discussed the ingress and egress of the Muskego Beer and Liquor Store. The committee requested to be kept abreast of the Plan Commission's decision to require an extension of the curbing on Center Drive. The committee once again discussed the possibility of installing shadow lanes on the north and south side of S.T H. 24 in the area of Lakes Parkway. Ald. Klenz moved to refer the matter to the Public Works Committee and that cost estimates be obtained. Seconded by Ald. Steinberg. Motion carried. • The committee discussed the matter of water patrolmen on the three lakes within the city. The committee noted the Finance Committee had recommended the salary and maintenance for Lake Denoon and Bass Bay/Big Muskego Lakes be reduced Chief Scholz discussed the present salary and maintenance provided to officers. Following considerable discussion as to the amount and type of patrol and salaries on each lake Ald. Klenz moved that the following salary and maintenance are submitted; Lake Denoon $200,00 Salary $200,00 Maintenance Big Musk./Bass Bay 300.00 Salary $300.00 Maintenance Little Muskego Lake 600.00 Salary $600.00 Maintenance Motion seconded by Ald. Knudsen, Motion carried The committee discussed the possibility of establishing bicycle trails within the city. Material from a previously formed bike trail committee will be researched and the matter discussed at a future meeting Ald Knudsen requested extra police patrol in the areas of Hillview, Wentland and Gold Drives regarding disturbances by juveniles and Ald. Klenz requested extra police patrol in the area of Woods Rd and Sandy Beach Drive for violations by motor bikes. • Ald. Knudsen requested Chief Scholz to make certain officers have familiarized themselves with the newly created ordinance regarding drinking in public places. Also, that a news release regarding the enforcing of mini -bike violations be published. The following communications were acknowledged as received: Police Report for the month of April, 1981 Rescue reports from the Tess Corners Vol. Fire Dept. Correspondence from the Building Inspection Department regarding various code violations. Ald Steinberg moved to adjourn. Seconded by Ald Klenz. Motion carried The meeting adjourned at 9:08 P.M.
