PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JULY 24, 1980
The meeting was called to order at 7 35 P M. by Chairman Knudsen.
Also present were Committee Members Van Lanen and Steinberg. Police
Chief Scholz and Lt. Dzibinski were also present.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved and placed on file.
Five Muskego residents (see attached list) appeared before the
committee to discuss ordinance number 20.03, (2) regarding a change
in rope length from 75 feet to 125 feet.
Ald. Van Lanen moved to recommend that Ald. Knudsen contact the
city attorney regarding correct interpretation of the above mentioned
ordinance and also responsibility of the City of Muskego (liability)
in the event of any accidents Seconded by Ald. Steinberg. Motion
carried.
Conununications from Building Inspection were reviewed and placed -...on
file.
Monthly reports of the Tess Corners Volunteer Fire Department and
rescue reports were received and placed on file.
The committee reviewed a report from Animal Warden, Pat Feldman, and
a request is being made at this meeting for a monthly report to be
submitted to each safety committee member. Regarding recovery of
cages, Warden Feldman should communicate with Mayor Gottfried.
Chief Scholz was requested to issue a press release to the public
alerting them as to their responsibility regarding their pets being
allowed to run loose.
The committee will review signs and parking at the various parks.
A large screen was suggested to cut off all balls foul tipped.
Ald. Knudsen requested that in the future any and all calls for
studies on any related safety problems such as parking etc. be
referred directly to the safety committee.
Chief Scholz stated that a 3 way stop sign on Lochcrest would create
a hazard in winter forcing a stop to be made going up a steep hill, and
after discussion the committee decided to recommend additional police
radar surveillance.
A motion was made by Ald. Knudsen to construct a passing lane at the
intersection of Janesville Road and Lakes Parkway (north side of Janesville
Road). The State Highway Department would do the construction. Seconded
by Ald. Van Lanen. Motion carried.
Ald. Van Lanen moved to adjourn. Seconded by Ald. Steinberg. Motion
carried. The meeting adjourned at 10,10 P.M.
