PSM19800409PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO • MINUTES OF MEETING HELD APRIL 9, 1980 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Tomczyk at 7 30 P.M. Also present was Committee Member Weed, Mayor Gottfried and Chief Scholz. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved and placed on file. The committee discussed with Chief Scholz the request they had received regarding the reduction of the speed limit on Martin Drive in front of the Ralph Martin residence and Reynolds Manu- facturing Company. It was the decision of the committee not to recommend any major changes in the speed limit. However, Supt. Bertram will be requested to install "Truck Entrance" signs near Reynolds Manufacturing Co. and a 25 mph "advisory,, sign at the curve, Communications from Building Inspection Department were reviewed and placed on file, Monthly reports of the Tess Corners Volunteer Fire Department and rescue units were received and placed on file. The committee discussed with Chief Scholz the report of the Animal • Warden. Chief Scholz expressed his concern over the costs which amounted to $345 02 for a period from February_L9,,to March 31, 1980. He indicated that a continuation of that kind of expenditure would deplete the budget provided for animal welfare by the Common Council. Mayor Gottfried will determine what revenues were received from the Animal Warden's activities, The Police Department's Report for the month of March, 1980 was received and placed on file The committee -reviewed correspondence from Senator Adelman regarding the city's request for traffic lights on the corner of S.T H. 24 and Lannon Drive. Included was a traffic count taken on Saturday, February 9, 1980. Senator Adelman also enclosed a communication from Mr Harvey Shebesta, District Director of the State Department of Transportation, indicating that in his opinion a traffic signal at the corner of S.T.H. 24 and Lannon Drive is not warranted at this time. Supt. Bertram appeared before the Safety Committee regarding his request that the resolution providing a stop sign on Muskego Drive at its intersection with Hardtke Drive from May 1st to October 1st be rescinded. It was the decision of the committee to defer action on this matter until its next,meeting. • Supt. Bertram also requested that a "Stop" sign be placed on the north- east and southwest corner of Apollo Dr and Mercury Dr. in the city's industrial park Ald. Weed moved to recommend to the Common Council that a "stop" sign be placed at that location. Seconded by Ald. Tomczyk Ald. Tomczyk moved to adjourn. Seconded by Ald. Weed. Motion carried.
