~ MINUTES OF MEETING HELD OCTOBER 18, 1979
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 P.M. by Chairman Tomczyk. Also
present were Committee Members Ald. Weed and Ald. Pietruszynski, Ald.
Van Lanen, Police Chief Scholz, and several people whose names appear
on the attached sheet (approximately 30 people)
4& The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and placed on file.
Mrs. Feldman appeared before the committee to present a petition concern-
ing the present conditions and policies on boarding and disposal of
animals by the humane officer. Mrs. Feldman expressed concern that
certain state statutes were not being observed in regards to the temper-
ature of the kennels and posting advertising. Mrs. Gerri Nelson also
mentioned the.previous complaints of housing and disposal. Mrs. Patricia
Rankin of the "Friends of Animals" inquired as to what could be done
to provide for temporary heated quarters for the animals. Mrs. Van Lanen
inquired about the possibilty of boarding the animals overnight and
then transporting them to H.A.W.S. Ald. Pietruszynski moved that a study
be made as to whether or not Mrs. Feldman would be able to transport
stray animals to H.A.W.S pending the meeting of the Rules, Laws, and
Ordinance committee. Seconded by Ald. Weed, motion carried.
The committee reviewed a comparison of costs of the services of the
01 humane officer and H.A.W.S. that were submitted.
Ald. Van Lanen requested that a dead cat on Janesville Road across from
Basse's farm be removed. He stated that numerous calls have been made
concerning the matter.
Correspondence was reviewed regarding changing the name of Bay Lane to
Pine Crest. Several people in the audience voiced their opposition to
any change of the street name and inquired about placing an indicating
sign on Bellview Drive instead.
Rescue reports were received and placed on file.
The Humane Officer reports for 9/5/79 to 9/26/79 were reviewed and
placed on file.
A letter from the Wisconsin Electric Power Company regarding public use
of snowmobiles and other motorized recreation vehicles on their right-
of-ways and properties was reviewed and placed on file.
Ald. Van Lanen reported that there is glass on the road on HWY 24 across
from Damaske Electronics. Ald. Tomczyk will contact Supt. Bertram
concerning the matter.
. Ald. Van Lanen reported on a problem on Oak Grove Drive regarding cars
parking in the roadway. The post office has stated that no mail will
be delivered until the cars are removed. Chief Scholz stated that it
is legal to park on that roadway and a letter will be sent to the
Muskego Post Office regarding the obstruction of delivery of mail.
Ald. Weed moved to adjourn. Seconded by Ald. Tomczyk. Motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 P.M.
