MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JULY 11, 1979
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Acting Chairman Weed.
Also present were Committee Member Ald Pienkos, Police Chief Scholz,
Mrs. Sophie Hoppe, Mrs Jerri Nelson, Mr. David Sieke, Mr. Dennis
Casey of the Milwaukee Journal and Ald. Wayne Salentine
The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and placed on file.
Mrs Hoppe and Mrs. Nelson appeared before the committee to inquire
about what has been done in regard to the filling of the Humane
Officer position. Ald. Weed indicated that thus far only one
individual has indicated interest in performing the duties of the
Humane Officer. That person is a second ward resident, Mr. Pat
Feldman Unfortunately Mrs. Feldman does not have the required land
to meet the zoning requirements for sheltering animals. Also, a
meeting was held with Mr. Whitehouse to find out whether or not his
kennels could be used for housing only. Mr. Whitehouse indicated
that he did not want to do this. He felt that if someone wanted to
pick up the animals and house them at his kennels he would take care
of them. However, Mrs. Feldman had stated to Ald Weed that she also
wanted to take care of the animals. Mr. Whitehouse will again be
contacted to see if he has changed his mind in this regard
