MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JANUARY 10, 1979
The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Van Lanen at
7:13 P.M. Also present were Aldermen Pienkos, Ald. Wallner, Police
Chief Scholz, Mayor Gottfried, Mrs. Jerri Nelson, Mrs. Sophie Hoppe,
Mrs. Dorothy Van Lanen and Mr. Ray Gray.
Resolution #6-79 which was deferred at the Common Council on Tuesday,
January 9th, regarding installation of street lights was discussed.
Mr Ray Gray of Rite Realty stated that the lights being suggested in
Guernsey Meadows #1 are a necessity Also, Mr Gray suggested that
the speed limit on S.T.H. 24 be reduced from 50 m p h. to 40 m p h.
Chief Scholz indicated that he has heard a new speed study of S T.H
24 will be made in the spring Ald. Pienkos moved to recommend to
the Common Council adoption of Resolution #6-79 (regarding street
light installation). Seconded by Ald. Van Lanen. Motion carried.
A1d. Pienkos moved to recommend to the Common Council to adopt a
resolution urging the State Highway Department to do a traffic
study this spring on Highway 24. Also, the State Highway Department
to determine whet type of traffic control signal is required at
the intersections of Highway 24 and Lannon Drive and Highway 24 and
Tess Corners Dr Seconded by Ald. Van Lanen Motion carried.
• Mrs Sophie Hoppe appeared before the committee to question the
reason why the city charges $4 00 for unspayed female dogs and only
$2 00 for all males and spayed females The committee requests
Mayor Gottfried to check surrounding communities and the State
Statutes regarding this question_
Mrs. Jerri Nelson appeared before the committee to ask whether or
not the heat in the animal shelter had been turned on. Mayor
Gottfried indicated he would call Mr. Whitehouse to determine
whether this has been done. Mayor Gottfried will then contact
Mrs. Nelson to let her know abolat this matter.
The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and placed on
file.
The committee is awaiting a reply from Kohler, Wisconsin, regarding
their "Sleepy policemen" road bumps
The committee requested Mayor Gottfried to contact the First
Wisconsin regarding the plowing and sanding of Parkland Mall
parking lot.
Tess Corners Fire Department fire reports from June 25, 1978 to Dec-
ember 22, 1978, were received and placed on file.
Rescue Reports from 8/8/78 to 12/31/78 were received and placed on
file.
Correspondence from Building Inspection Department from 12/18/78
to 1/8/79 were received and placed on file.
Humane Officer reports from 11/2/78 to 11/28/78 were received and
placed on file.
' Ald. Pienkos moved to adjourn. Seconded by Ald. Van Lanen. Motion
carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:17 P.M.
