. MINUTES OF MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 8, 1977
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Schaumberg at 7:07 P.M.
Also present were Aldermen Wallner, Pienkos, Mayor Gottfried, Police
Chief Kraus, Miss Liz Richter, Ald. Tomczyk and Mr. William Reeder.
Miss Richer, Lake Drive, appeared before the committee to request
"Temporary No Parking" signs around the high school (Woods Rd. & Racine
Ave.) for the homecoming bonfire on Friday, September 30th Chief
Kraus will exercise his authority by ordinance to adhere to the
granting of this request.
The committee discussed the "No Parking" signs and the failure of drivers
to obey them in front of the farm market located at the intersection of
Highways 36 and 45. The Police Department will contact the party involved
to determine what can be done to correct the situation.
The Kingston Lake lot was discussed and the results of the police
study explained by Chief Kraus. The committee again requested that the
Police Department study the area to determine whether or not vehicles
could get through if parking occurred on both sides of the street.
The committee has been advised by Mr. Don Jorgenson, Supervisor of
the State Highway Department, there is a possibility of making S.T.H.
24 from Lannon Drive east to Bay Lane a 35 mph speed zone.
• The minutes of the previous meeting held 8/4/77 were reviewed and
placed on file.
CThe Police Department will investigate the continuing problem of the
removal of "Stop" signs in the area of Northview Dr. and Hi -View Dr.
Mr. William Reeder, owner of Windsong Apartment complex, appeared
before the committee to request a street light be installed at the
intersection of Heise Dr. and Pioneer Dr. because of the increased
traffic in this area. Following discussion, the Police Department
will conduct a study on the feasibility of placing a street light at
this intersection and also the possibility of having a "stop" sign
placed on Reise Dr. at its intersection with Pioneer Drive.
The Humane Officer RepPrts from 7/1/77 to 7/31/77 were reviewed and
placed on file.
Building Inspection Department reports from 7/29/77 to 8/30/77 were
reviewed and placed on file.
The monthly analysis for the month of August, 1977, from the Police
Department was reviewed and placed on file.
The Police Department Report regarding trucking on St. Leonard's Dr.
as a result of construction taking place in Kristin Downs Subdivision
was reviewed. The report indicated that after surveillance no
violations of the prohibition of trucking on St. Leonard's Dr. was

The committee requests that any police studies should be done officially
through the Safety Committee in the future in order to avoid duplications
Correspondence was received and placed on file regarding the traffic
signals on Lannon Dr. and S.T.H. 24 and Tess Corners Dr. and S.T.H. 24.
The State will continue to monitor the area.
,� Discussion took place on the proposed qualifications for police ranks
a copy of which will be forwarded to Roger Walsh, the city's negotiator.
The committee requested Mayor Gottfried to contact Chief Bierbach to
see if the Tess Corners Fire Dept. would be interested in having a
flashing red light on Tess Corners Dr, and S.T.N. 24 which would be
used during fire alarms.
Ald. Pienkos moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion
carried. The meeting adjourned at 7:52 P.M.
