PSM19760422PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD APRIL 22, 1976 The meeting was called to order at 7:15 P.M. by Ald. Colburn. Also present were Aldermen Wallner and Constantineau and Mayor Gottfried. Ald. Constantineau requested that the committee consider installation of the necessary speed limit signs on Field Drive. Ald. Colburn moved to submit the request to the Police Department for review and recom- mendation. Seconded by Ald. Wallner, motion carried. Correspondence from the Building Inspection Department involving violations of the Building Code and Zoning Ordinance, etc. were re- viewed and placed on file. Reports from the Tess Corners Fire Department for the period of Feb- ruary 24 thru March 25, 1976, were received and placed on file. The recommendation of the Police Department regarding the request for a three-way "stop" at Bristlecone Lane and MacLen Drive was reviewed. The report indicated that although a majority of homeowners in the vicinity would prefer a 3-way stop, the Police Department felt Bristle - cone should be a "Thru Street". Ald. Colburn moved to defer action on the matter to the next meeting in order to give Ald. Pienkos an opportunity to express his views on the matter. Seconded by Ald. Wallner, motion carried. The Police Department monthly report for March, 1976, was reviewed and placed on file. At the request of Ald. Constantineau the committee will request that the Police Department review the speed limit on Racine Ave. from Highway 24 to Hillendale Drive and to again attempt selective enforce- ment of the existing speed limit. The Police Chief will be requested to report back to committee at the next meeting. The committee discussed Ald. Colburn's request for a street light at the corner of Michi and Lake Drives. Ald. Colburn advised the committee that because of the night activities taking place at the school many youngsters use the street as they go home. The matter was referred to the Superintendent of Schools in the hope that they would cooperate in the erection of the necessary street light. Ald. Colburn discussed with the committee the need for some form of traffic control at the intersections of Lannon Dr. and Highway 24 and Tess Corners Drive and Highway 24. The matter was deferred to the • next meeting in order that the new committee members could be involved in the discussion. Ald. Ford requested consideration for "No Parking" signs at the end of Silver Drive. The matter was referred to the Police Department for review and recommendation. Mr. Richard Knudsen appeared to urge that the committee give consideratioi to the development of bicycly trails in the city. • Ald. Colburn requested the committee to give consideration to inviting representatives of all snowmobile clubs in the area to a future meeting to discuss mutual problems. Ald.
