MINUTES OF MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 19, 1976
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Schaumberg at 7:00 P.M. Also
present were committee members Colburn and Wallner, Mayor Gottfried and
Police Chief Kraus.
_.The committee discussed with Chief Kraus the insurance coverage presently
provided for the city's water patrolmen. It was noted that the city does
have liability insurance, however, they do not provide insurance for
damage to boats, fire, etc. It was pointed out to Chief Kraus that for
their own protection each patrolman should have additional liability
insurance with limits of at least $50,000.00 to $150,000.00 and preferably
$100,000.00 to $300,000.00, Chief Kraus was directed to discuss the
matter with the water patrolinen and report back at the next Safety Committee
meeting.
Chief Kraus discussed with the committee the need for an ordinance to
regulate emergency alarm systems in the city. He recommended that the
city purchase the necessary module panel and power equipment board which
would provide the police department the ability to permit burglar alarm
Wsystems for busiaesses, etc. He indicated the cost of the module system
t no more than $200.00. Ald. Wallner moved to authorize Chief Kraus
to add the necessary equipment to the communication system being planned
for the new police complex. Seconded by Ald. Colburn, motion carried.
Aldo Schaumberg moved to recommend to the Rules, Laws & Ordinance Committee
the establishment of a "No Parking" zone on the cul-de-sac at the end
of Garnet Drive,
The committee discussed with Chief Kraus his suggestion that qualifications
and job descriptions be developed for the police department.
The committee will review the committee's existing Firearms Ordinance and
examine possible alternatives for restricting hunting in congested areas.
Other communities with similar problems will be contacted, particularly
Caledonia.
Chief Kraus brought to the attention of the Safety Committee that the
adoption of the salary -resolution for non -represented employees failed
to include the police cadet. Ald. Wallner moved to recommend to the
Finance Committee that a 7% increase be considered effective January 1, 1976.
Seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion carried.
The committee reviewed the Humane Officer's Reports for December, 1975 and
January, 1976. Same placed on file.
We committee discussed at length the community's responsibility to provide
access to snowmobile trails. It was agreed that existing ordinances will
be reviewed and that a meeting with representatives of the several snow-
mobile clubs in the area will be held to discuss the problem.

The Advisory Committee of the Lake District's proposal that buoys be placed
around the shores of Little Muskego Lake will be reviewed at a future meeting.
Ald. Colburn moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. Wallner, motion carried. The
meeting adjourned at 8:15 P.M.
