• MINUTES OF MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 4, 1975
In the absence of Chairman Schaumberg the meeting was called to order
by Mayor Gottfried. Also present were Ald. Colburn and Chief Kraus. Ald.
Schaumberg arrived at 8:00 P.M. Aldermen Foldy and. Knudsen were also in
attendance.
Mr. and Mrs..l$eil Griffith and Mrs. Van Oayan appeared to discuss with the
• committee traffic problems on Racine Avenue between Hillendale Drive and
Highway 24. They specifically asked the committee to consider reducing
the speed limit to 30 or 35 mph and to have the police department conduct
an intensive program. They were advised by the committee that since Racine
Avenue is a county highway speed limits are established by the County Board
and they were advised to contact the County Board Supervisors from the
city regarding the matter. Chief Kraus agreed to increase the amount of
selective enforcement in that area with particular attention given between
the hours of 7:30 A.M. and 8:15 A.M.
The need for traffic lights on S.T.H. 24 at the intersections of Racine Ave.
Lannon Drive and Tess Corners Drive were again discussed. The committee
determined that because of the increased traffic county on Highway 24
in those areas, recent accidents and increased concern by citizens,
• another request should be made to the State and County Highway Departments.
Ald. Schaumberg moved, seconded by Ald. Colburn, to recommend to the
Common Council the adoption of a resolution urging the installation.of
the above lights. Motion carried.
A recommendation from the police department regarding the need for parking
control on Lincoln Drive in Kingston Subdivision was discussed. Ald.
Colburn moved, seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, that the committee recommend
to the Common Council the creation of "no parking" areas on the east side
of Lincoln Drive. Motion carried.
The committee directed Chief Kraus to study the need for a "No parking"
area on Hillendale Drive and Wentland Drive in the vicinity of the
Country Corner tavern. Recommendation to be ready by the next meeting.
The need for regulating the hours which home construction can be done
within the city was discussed. It was the decision of the committee to
handle each case independently under existing ordinances.
The committee discussed the recommendation of the police department to
create a 45 m.p.h. speed limit. on Muskego Dam Road between Kelsey Drive
and S.T.H. 36. Ald. Colburn moved to recommend to the Common Council
•approval of the recommendation. Seconded by Ald. Schaumberg. Motion
carried.
The reports of the Tess Corners Rescue Department were received and
placed,on file.
The reports of the Humane Officer were received and placed on file.
The need for a passing lane on S.T.H. 24 from Lannon Drive to Parkland
• Drive was discussed. Ald. Colburn moved, seconded by Ald. Schaumberg,
to recommend to the Public Works Committee that the necessary action to

insure construction of the lane be taken as quickly as possible. Motion
carried.
Monthly report from the police department was received and placed on
file.
• The committee discussed desirability of prohibiting hunting on Little
Muskego Lake. It was the opinion of the committee that present regu-
lations are adequate.

Chief Krause reminded the committee that their recommendation regarding
the placement of "No Parking" signs at the end of Garnet Drive has
not been acted upon by the committee. Ald. Ford will be contacted re-
garding the results of his survey.
Ald. Colb4ra.moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion
carried. The meeting adjourn at 8:25 P.M.
