PSM19740812n U PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD AUGUST 12, 1974 The meeting was called to order at 8:15 P.M. by Chairman Ford. Also present were Alderman Knudsen, Wallner, Foldy, Mayor Gottfried and Police Chief Kraus. • The following persons were present at the meeting for the pur- pose of discussing the proposed street name changes in Hi-Y Ranches Subdivision: Henrietta Shields, S71 W19638 Simandl Drive Joseph G. Fojtik, W195 57177 Hi-Y Drive Mr. Fojtik will contact the balance of the residents in the area who will be affected by the street name changes to discuss the matter with them. The following residents of Bedford Drive were present to discuss the proposed street name change of Bedford Drive to Bristlecone Lane: Ralph Wisniewski Gail Maxwell • Kathleen Rajkovacz Thomas Johnson Liz Wisniewski Joanne Johnson Bettie Lou Gliniecki Donna Konz James Gliniecki Donald J. Konz Barbara Joost Sivier L. Joost Craig Maxwell Dorothy Boldt (Could not attend meeting but is opposed to name change) All who were present spoke opposing the proposed change because of expenses involved and confusion. The committee informed the residents that the resolution approving the name change is on the Council floor and their views would be presented to the Council by Chairman Ford. Alderman Ford moved to recommend to Rules, Laws and Ordinance Committee for the approval of six "Slow -No wake" buoy signs on Little Muskego Lake as per Police Department location recommendation. Seconded by Alderman Wallner, motion carried. The committee reviewed the Police Department revised proposal regarding speed limit on Tess Corners Drive. • Alderman Ford moved to recommend Council approval that an additional position of patrolman be created, effective Sept- ember 1, 1974. Seconded by Alderman Wallner, motion carried. Alderman Ford moved to recommend to Council to urge the State Highway Commission the building of a shadow passing lane on the south side of Janesville Road approximately 40 west of the west entrance to the Parkland Shopping Center and ending approximately 40 feet east of the intersection of Parkland (, Drive and Janesville Road. Seconded by Alderman Wallner, motion carried. The committee is recommending that the following street name change be made: Tower Drive off of Lannon Drive to Westwood Drive • PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE Page 2 • Residents affected by the change will be notified in order that they can express their views of the proposed change. Alderman Ford moved to recommend to Finance Committee the approval of the request of the Civil Defense Director for the purchase of a Low Band -Tone activated -"Alert Monitor Receiver" in the amount of $168.00. Seconded by Alderman Wallner, motion carried. The committee reviewed the Police Department monthly report for July. Same placed on file.
