MINUTES OF MEETING HELD APRIL 11, 1974
• The meeting was called to order by Chairman Foldy at 7:00 P.M. Also
present were Aldermen Wallner and Knudsen, Mayor Gottfried and Chief
Kraus and citizen Frank DeAngelis.
The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and placed on file.
Old Business - Resolution #56-74, Establishing Traffic Regulations
Area of Vine Street and Bellview Drive) was reviewed. Ald. Wallner
•moved to recommend an amendment tD the resolution by the use of traffic
direction signs as well as stop signs on the northeast corner of Vine
and Bellview Drive. Seconded by Ald. Foldy, motion carried.
The committee also recommended to the Public Works Committee that the
radii of the curves be improved.
The committee heard from. Chief Kraus regarding the traffic survey
of the residents of Hale Park Meadows and Hale Park West - recommendation
attached. Ald. Foldy moved to recommend Council adoption of the
recommendation of the Police Department. Seconded by Ald. Wallner,
motion carried.
Chief Kraus also presented his survey of residents regarding the
proposal to prohibit parking on both sides of Lannon Drive from S.T.H. 24
to Tower Drive. Ald. Wallner moved, seconded by Ald Foldy, to recommend
Council approval of Police Department recommendation.
• Ald. Wallner suggested the committee consider placing a "Caution -Driveway
200 Feet Ahead" sign near the intersection of Diamond and Gold Drive.
Ald. Wallner moved, seconded by Ald. Foldy, to request the Public Works
Committee to consider the installation -of such a sign. Motion carried.
The committee discussed the need for striping streets in the city. They
agreed to urge the Public Works Department to begin the program as quickly
as possible. The Public Works Committee was also urged to consider side
striping as well as center striping on major city streets.
Chief Kraus advised the committee the "Yield" sign at the corner of
Sunnyhill Drive and Prospect Drive was not, in his opinion, serving the
intended purpose. He requested it be replaced with a "Stop" sign. After
a great deal of discussion the committee agreed to review the situation
once again.
Chief Kraus reported that the refrigerator found in the Tans Drive
gravel pit has been hauled away by the owner, Mr. Thomas.
The Police Department report on the potential danger created by the deep
ditches near the intersection of Hardtke and Muskego Drives was referred
to the Public Works Committee.
The committee discussed the inadequacy of present signing at the
intersection of Woods Road and C.T.H. "Y". Police Chief Kraus was
•directed to contact Supt. of Public Works Bertram to suggest ways to
correct the problem.
Police Chief Kraus requested permission to fill the Sergeant position
vacated by the resignation of Barry Winrich. Ald. Foldy moved to grant
his request. Seconded by Ald. Wallner, motion carried.
The committee reviewed the quotations received for three portable type
• radios. The quotations received were as follows:
Ken Com 1 Watt $ 3,042.00 196 days
Motorola 3.5 Watts 3,213.00 60 days
RCA 1.2 Watts 3,244.00 90 days
Action on the above was deferred until the next meeting of tYe committee.

• Chief Kraus submitted the name of Keven McGroarty as a possible appointee
as an emergency policeman. Action was deferred on his request until the
nex meeting.
The Police Department report for the month of March was received and
placed on file.
The committee reviewed the communication from Mr. Carl Wheeler objecting
to the receipt of a bill for rescue service. Since it has been the
• policy of the city not to charge for rescue service when there has been
no transportation to the hospital the committee agreed to change their
original directions to approve payment and billing to payment only.
