PSM19740214PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
• MINUTES OF MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 14, 1974
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Foldy at 7:10 P.M. Also
present were Ald. Wallner and Chief Kraus.
Police Chief Kraus is awaiting a reply from the DNR regarding the
possibility of aids for snowmobile patrol. He also reported that the
Wisconsin Electric Power Co. had requested enforcement of the trespassing
ordinance as it pertains to their right-of-way through Muskego. The
. Police Dept. received 33 snowmobile complaints from 12/5/73 thru 1/10/74.
Chief Kraus proposed that the city purchase and provide 2,000 antenna flags
for licensed bicycles in Muskego. Estimated cost would be $2,000.00. We
presently budget bi-annually $300.00 for license plates and take in about
$1,500.00 bi-annually in fees. Therefore, the $1,200 bi-annual profit
would more than offset the cost over a 2-year period. The antennas,
besides being a safety item would also be an excellent public relations
item for use between young people and the police officer. Ald. Wallner
moved to recommend to Finance Committee approval of the above proposal.
Seconded by Ald. Foldy, motion carried.
Thirty five (35) Humane Officer Reports from 1/2/74 thru 2/l/74 were
• reviewed and placed on file.
A discussion took place regarding a time table for the new police
building. No action taken. It was suggested that architectural plans
be prepared in 1974 and bids be accepted in 1974 - actual building to occur
in 1975. Capital Budget Committee to be made aware of these thoughts.
Mayor Gottfried arrived at 8:15 P.M.
The committee reviewed the need for printing calculator by the Police
Department. No action taken. The committee to view Police Department
clerical operation.
Ald. Wallner moved to recommend to Finance Committee that Police Officer I,
James Budish, be sent to two -week narcotic training in Eau Claire the first
two weeks of April, 1974. Seconded by Ald. Foldy, motion carried.
Ald. Wallner moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. Foldy, motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 8:50 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
• Raymond Wallner, Acting Sec'y.
