MINUTES OF MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 27, 1973
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 P.M. by Chairman Foldy. Also
present were Aldermen Czarnecki, Wallner, Knudsen and Police Chief
Kraus.
The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and placed on file.
The following persons appeared at the meeting regarding noise from
inadequate mufflers on trucks traversing on Racine Avenue:

The above people requested that immediate action be taken. The Police
Department will be advised to strictly enforce the provisions of
State Statutes 347.39(1) (loud mufflers) and violations of speed and
spillage and that letters be sent to various trucking companies using
Racine Ave.
• Aid. Czarnecki moved to recommend Council approval for the placement of
25 mph speed signs and "Caution -Children" signs be placed on Center Drive
between S.T.H. 24 and Lake Drive. Seconded by Aid. Wallner, motion
carried.
Aid. Wallner moved to recommend Council approval of the placement of
25 mph speed signs and "Caution -children" warning signs be placed on
Schubring Drive between Lannon Drive and Lake Drive. Seconded by Aid.
Czarnecki, motion carried.
Chief Kraus reviewed the results of their efforts to encourage the
removal of junk cars and the parking of cars along Gold Drive.
As per Aid. Dumke's request the committee will view the area of Ryan Road
and Boxhorn Road which is under construction and report back at a later date
The committee reviewed 41 Humane Officer Reports from 8/l/73 to 8/31/73.
Same were placed on file.
The committee reviewed Rescue Reports from 8/7/73 to 9/16/73. Thirty one
(31) reports were approved for payment and billing and three (3) for
payment only.
Chief Kraus proposed that if the team policy program is approved that the
• community service officers be designated as sworn personnel in order to
take advantage of training funds and the full potential of arrest powers
to assist other officers when needed. The41co furred with his proposal.
Aid. Czarnecki moved to recommend that Briargate Court be changed officially
to Briargate Lane. Seconded by Aid. Wallner, motion carried.
Mayor Gottfried to correspond with State Highway Commission, Waukesha
County Highway Commission, County Board Supervisors Albers and Smith,
Representative James Rutkowski and Senator James Devitt regarding traffic
controls at the intersection of new Racine Avenue (C.T.H. "Y") and
S.T.H. 24.
Police Chief Kraus to make study of traffic control sign (Left Exit-1000 ft,
Slow) just west of the Milwaukee -Waukesha County line.
Aid. Czarnecki moved to adjourn, seconded
