• MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JANUARY 11, 1973
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman Cole. Also
present were Aldermen Ford and Knudsen, Mayor Gottfried and Police
Chief Kraus. Aid. DeBack was absent.
The committee reviewed application of Brian B. Borkowski to the
Emergency Police Unit. Aid. Ford moved to recommend approval of
same, seconded by Aid. Cole, motion carried.
Chief Kraus reported that the request of Mary Ann Schmittinger for
a traffic control signal at Lannon Drive and S.T.H. "24" has been
refused by the State Dept. of Transportaion.
Chief Kraus reported that the State Dept. of Transportation has also
turned down our request for a traffic light at C.T.H. Y and STH 24.
Aid. Ford moved to recommend that the Rules, Laws & Ordinance Committee
amend Resolution #158-68 to delete Field Drive from the 40 MPH speed
classification so that it can have a 35 MPH speed limit.
The Committee agreed to remind the Rules, Laws & Ordinance Committee
that they have not taken the necessary action to amend Resolution
• #159-68 to include Gold Drive as an arterial street.
Aid. Ford moved to recommend that the Rules, Laws & Ordinance Committee
amend Resolution #159-68 to make the intersection of Somerset -,Dr. and
Longfellow La a 4-way stop and the intersection of Somerset & Hawthorne
a two-way stop. Seconded by Aid. Cole, motion carried.
Aid. Ford moved to recommend that the Rules, Laws & Ordinance Committee
take the necessary action to establish a "Yield" sign on the north
side of Hedgewood at its intersection of Southern Heights Drive.
Seconded by Aid. Cole, motion carried.
Aid. Ford moved to recommend that the Rules, Laws & Ordinance Committee
take the necessary action to establish a "Yield" sign at the southwest
corner of Hilltop and Bay Lane. Seconded by Aid. Cole. Motion carried.
Chief Kraus asked the committee to recommend that preliminary steps be
taken to facilitate the building of a new police station. The committee
suggested that Chief Kraus submit a formal request.
Aid. Knudsen reported that Valley Sand & Gravel, Inc. trucks are be-
ginning to use Tans Drive thereby causing citizen complaints. Mayor
• Gottfried and Chief Kraus will check into the matter.
Sixteen (16) Tess Corners Volunteer Fire Dept. Reports were presented
for the period of 7/12/72 thru 11/7/72.
Fifty seven (57) Tess Corners Rescue Reports were reviewed for the period
from 10/16/72 thru 12/15/72. Forty nine (49) were approved for payment
and billing, seven(7) for payment only and one(1) for no payment or billing.
AThe committee agreed that when more than one member of a family is trans-
ported to the hospital by the rescue squad, only one conveyance charge
will be made.
The December Police Report was received and placed on file.
A discussion was held regarding the charge for a rescue service call. Aid.
Cole moved to recommend that the charge for rescue calls be increased from
$25.00 to $30.00 and that the city pay the remaining $15.00 of the $45.00
total cost. Seconded by Aid. Ford, motion carried.
Aid. Cole moved to adjourn. Seconded by Aid. Ford, motion carried. The
meeting adjourned at 8:40 P.M.
