PSM19720615PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO . MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON JUNE 15, 1972 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Sapp at 8:55 P.M. Also present were Aldermen Ford, DeBack, Knudsen, Dumke and Foldy and Mayor Gottfried and Police Chief Kraus. Mr. Donald Jason, Somerset Drive, appeared to submit a petition with • 35 signatures, requesting the installation of a four-way stop at the intersection of Somerset Drive and Longfellow Lane and a three-way stop at the intersection of Somerset Drive and Hawthorne Road. Aid. Ford moved to recommend Council approval of the placement of a four-way "stop" sign at the intersection of Somerset Drive and Longfellow Lane. Seconded by Aid. DeBack. Motion carried. Aid. Knudsen brought up the following items for consideration: The possibility of "Slow Children" signs on Hillendale Drive and Lochcrest Blvd. Hillside Drive has no speed limit posted The committee will view the area for recommendation. • Aid. Ford requested that the Police Dept. check Gold Drive for speeders. The committee discussed the changing of street names. A special meeting is scheduled for the third Monday in July for this purpose. Chief Kraus reported on a recommendation to place a "Yield Sign" at the northwest corner of the intersection of Southern Drive and Hedgewood Drive. Aid. Ford moved, as seconded by Aid. DeBack to recommend the placement of a "Yield" sign at the intersection of Southern Drive and Hedgewood Dr., motion carried. Aid. Ford moved to recommend to the Public Works Committee that a "Yield" sign be placed at the southwest corner of Hilltop Drive at its intersection with Bay Lane in order to control eastbound traffic on Hilltop Drive. Seconded by Aid. DeBack. Motion carried. The committee discussed the placement of street lights on Gold Drive. Chief Kraus reported on a needed transfer of funds for the operations of the Emergency Police Unit in the amount of $1,500.00. Aid. DeBack moved • to recommend to the Finance Committee the transfer of funds in the amount of $1,500.00 from the Contingency Fund to Police Department Acct. #520-041 in order to purchase equipment and uniforms for the newly formed Emergency Police Unit. Seconded by Aid. Ford, motion carried. Chairman Sapp moved to recommend to Finance Committee to transfer the amount of $1,150.00 from the Contingency Fund to Police Acct. #275 - Capital Budget, for two new radar units. Seconded by Aid. DeBack, motion carried. Police Dept. Report for the month of May was received and placed on file. Twelve (12) Tess Corners Rescue Reports were received and recommended for payment and billing.
