PSM19690506• PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MAY 9, 1969 The meeting was called to order at 7:50 P.M. Present were Chairman Sapp, Aldermen Wollman and Burgermeister, Chief Kraus, Mr. Wood, Warden from State Conservation Dept. and Mr. Art. Heiden of the Little Muskego Lake Water Patrol. Minutes of meeting held April 16, 1969 were approved and placed on file. Ald. Wollman suggested that before any action be taken on the "No Parking" signs on Muskego Dam Road near the dam, the City ordinances be verified. The Committee recommended that the Public Works Dept. install "No Parking" signs at Highway 24 and Racine Ave. It is also the Committee's recommendation to the Public Works Dept. have a street light installed at the corner of Oak Grove Drive and Racine Avenue adjacent to Lions Park. • Seventeen (17) Rescue Reports were received, reviewed and approved for payment. Twelve (12) Tess Corners Fire Dept. Reports were reviewed and placed on file. Several citizens appeared at the meeting and requested to be heard regarding the proposed Water Ski Shows to be held at Dandelion Park. They expressed their viewpoints and concern as listed below: 1. Public Rights of all - excessive hours of show. 2. Possibility of destroying fishing by disturbing spawn beds in water show area. 3. Possibility of giving the show a one year trial basis. 4. The need for extra Water Patrolmen. 5. Liability due to Water Show and Ski Jump. 6. If an area 200' x 400' would be large enough to permit show. 7. Possibility of water erosion to land, especially Clay Bank Island. 8. The lighting, anchoring, etc. of the Ski Jump. 9. The possibility of using more lake area due to the probability of kite flying. 10. Concern over Council not approving request. •Chief Kraus read the City Ordinances regarding Water Skiing and Ski Jumps which answered some of the questions. Mr. Wood answered some of the questions regarding experiences on other lakes in regard to spawning. He also advised that the City had the authority to authorize the Water Show and also to authorize wither temporary markers for a 14-day period or permanent markers as required by State Laws. Many questions regarding the Water Show were answered by Mr. Masterson and Mr. Hohmann. Mr. Masterson also pointed out what an asset: this proposed project would be to children and teenagers as far as a recreation- al program is concerned. Ald. Wollman moved to adjourn, seconded by Ch.
