PSM19680506PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO • MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MAY 6, 1968 Chairman Linck called the meeting to order at 7:10 P.M. Also present were Alderman Cooley and Alderman Wollman. The Minutes of the previous meeting were approved and placed on file. Two zoning violations were received from Zoning Officer Lee. They . were reviewed and placed on file. A letter was received from Mr. John Anderson asking a study be made regarding the installation of traffic control lights at three inter- sections on Highway 24. This was referred to the Police Department for a recommendation. Alderman Burgermeister appeared to request some type of positive action be taken on all the stray dogs in the Jewel Crest and Muskego Shores area. This was referred to the Police Department to see if the Humane Officers might patrol the area more often. Chief Kraus and Building Inspector Lee arrived. • The Police Department April Consolidated Monthly Report and the Juvenile Report were reviewed and placed on file. A proposal to lease and construct a pistol range for the Police Dept. was presented by Chief Kraus. After discussion, Alderman Cooley moved to recommend to the Finance Committee that the Common Council direct the City Attorney to prepare a lease on the property owned by Mr. Wauer for the purpose of providing the Police Dept. with a pistol shooting range. Seconded by Alderman Linck, motion carried. A proposal to install a gas tank and pump on the Police Dept. property was presented by Chief Kraus. The Chief pointed out that having our own tank will save the City over $1,000.00 per year. After discussion, Alderman Linck moved to recommend to the Finance Committee that approval be given the Police Dept. to purchase and have installed, their own 2,000 gal. gas tank and pump. Work to be done by the lowest bidder. Seconded by Alderman Wollman. Motion carried. Chief Kruas also re- quested that the money for this project be transferred out of the gasoline Account #614, thereby using the money we will save on gasoline purchases the balance of this year to pay for the tank and pump. A proposal to enter into a Communications Maintenance Contract for the • Police radio equipment was presented by Chief Kraus. After discussion, Alderman Linck moved to recommend to the Finance Committee the signing of this contract with Motorola Communications and Electronics, Inc. for a monthly fee of $130.70, seconded by Alderman Wollman. Motion carried. Building Inspector Lee appeared to request a change in the manner of paying the Assistant Building Inspector. After much discussion, the matter was deferred until our next meeting.
