CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MARCH 25, 1965, 6:55 P.M.
PRESENT: Aldermen Bostater, Hudziak, and Wieselmann. Also present
were Mayor Gottfried, George Trepanier, Clarence Welrath, Jerry Lee,
William Bohlman, Mr. Anderson & Robert Williams, District Director
of Civil Defense. -
Meeting called to order by Chairman Henry Hudziak.
First order of business, Mr. Trepanier spoke regarding operation
of Civil Defense Committee. Mr. Trepanier stated that the Mayor
was in charge of Civil Defense as Director and the Council was
directly behind the Mayor as far as authority was concerned. Mr.
Trepanier brought the Safety Committee up to date on the past his-
tory of the Civil Defense operation in our midst. Auxiliary
police were mentioned and the numerous training courses that they
had already completed. Members had taken Radiological Monitor Train-.
ing Course. Mention was made of the need for at least 50 booklets
on methods of survival to be available to Mayor, Council and anyone
else in authority.
Mr. Williams stated that the City should work out a most effective
method of warning in case of emergency. There are no requirements
to meet. Civil Defense System would match "Dollar for Dollar" as
far as siren system in conjuction with the Auxiliary Fire Dept.
It was asked by Mr. Williams if City Council would consider updating
Ordinance concerning Civil Defense.
Two fire services would be very much involved when Metropolitan
Sewer System comes into the area. In case of emergency in construc-
tion such as explosion, oxygen would have to be provided in order
to be able to complete a rescue.
Another item on a non -demand basis was that a consideration of
salary for man carrying out job of Civil Defense Director. Matching
funds would be available frsm Civil Defense Dept.
Can assist City of Muskego in upgrading of Defense system, should
City acquire Nike Site. Would feel that matching funds would be
available that would provide for building certain types of shelters.
Public Safety Committee decided to study material and Civil Defense
possib-lities for the future.
Constablets Daily Log to be placed on file.
• An Ordinance relating to the care, keeping and confinement of dogs
was read as was proposed by the Rules, Laws and Ordinances Committee.
Ordinance draft to be referred back to Rules, Laws and Ordinances
Committee on questions and changes brought up by Safety Committee.
Mayor Gottfried will refer and attend their meeting and explain the
questions to the Committee.
Letter from Atty. Hippenmeyer relating to City Ordinance regulating
boating was read. Further information -forthcoming from Atty Hip-
penmeyer.
Communication from League of Wisconsin Municipalities regarding
Institute on Building Codes, Condemnation Procedures, Fire Inspection
and Prevention, etc. 1Ir. Gerald Lee wishes to attend Wednesday &
Thursday. Moved by Alderman Bostater for Mr. Lee to attend and

submit all reasonable expenses. Seconded by Alderman Wieselmann.
Motion carried.
Alderman Hudziak moved to contact State of Wisconsin regarding placing
of No Parking sign west of Westwood Dr. ahead of the Muskego.-
Norway District School office. Seconded by Alderman Bostater.
Motion carried.
Motion made by Alderman Wiese]mann, seconded by Alderman Bostater
to adjourn. Motion carried and meeting adjourned at 8:25 P.M.
