DEPUTY COMMISSIONERS' REPORT REGARDING STATUS OF LAKE Current Condition of Lake/Bay, Water Levels, Plant Growth, Fish and Wildlife. Greg Burmeister, Deputy Commissioner, W146 S9505 Groveway Lane. There are a lot of weeds in the lake. A lot of the lake has buds of milfoil. As for the traffic, if you stay in the lanes you can get around the lake, but what appears to be the green parts of the lake are thick and could cause issues. Water level is low in a major draught, no water going over the dam and the gate is closed. For the wildlife, there are two towers holding osprey with four adults and seven young. Cameras are on both towers and through the City website you can view some activity. One nest has a peculiar activity in that the adults are bringing goldfish back to feed the young. For the eagles, the young appear to be flying. There was a kayak trip through the recreation department and there were 29 boats for the tour. If promoted more, there would be many people. K Alderman Kubacki asked the situation with the starry wart. Deputy Commissioner Burmeister said that it was in the lake, but not much of a problem. The milfoil is the issue that can get very thick. Alderman Kubacki asked if they did clean boats/clean waters. Deputy Commissioner Burmeister responded that there are no boats observing or enforcing the restrictions with clean boats/clean waters. NEW BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS AND ANY OTHER BUSINESS AS AUTHORIZED BY LAW ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Hammel made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Madden seconded; motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:16 PM. Minutes taken by Christine Crisp and transcribed by Aaron Fahl, AICP Associate Planner 3
