CALL TO ORDER
Meeting was called to order at 6:OOPM by Commissioner Mooney.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
ROLL CALL
Commissioners Mooney, Jaske and Boyer were present. Chief Westphal was also present.
STATEMENT OF PUBLIC NOTICE
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Boyer made a motion to approve the minutes from the 01/20/22; 02/10/22 and
02/28/22 meetings. Commissioner Jaske seconded. Motion passed all in favor.
PUBLIC APPEARANCE
REPORT FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT
Chief Westphal open by thanking Commissioner Mooney for his 15 years of dedicated service
on the police and fire commission.
The department has had 3 vendors show their body cameras. The department is in need of
order new ones and will be looking at a cloud based storage system and getting them ordered
ASAP.
The new Taser 7's have arrived and will be put into patrol later this spring.
The emergency operations center is in the process of being built in the downstairs classroom at
the PD.
Our entire police department was recognized and presented an award by the Crime Victims
Program for our service and relationship with victims of our community. Chief is very proud of
our department for that honor.
Jammin on Janesville is coming up and Lt. Ondricka has been working closely with the
Chamber to make it a safe/successful event.
The department has hired two retired officers as part-time boat patrol officers to assist with our
commitment to being out on the lakes this summer.
Governor Evers has given every law enforcement agency money based on the size of the
community/department. We will be receiving $57,000.00 which is earmarked toward technology
for training (VR trainer).
Chief's number one goal is recruitment and retention. The new VR trainer will be used as a tool
for recruiting.
Chief will be putting a board together in order to prepare for an upcoming Captain retirement
replacement. This person will be the 211 in command and Chief wants the best candidate for the
roll and wants outside input for a fair process.

NEW BUSINESS
Hiring Process — Chief thanked the commissioners for committing their free time to interview
candidates for police officer. We need to hire two immediately and their efforts to pick a date for
interviewing ASAP is greatly appreciated.
Citizen Complaint — Chief briefed the commissioners on citizen who continues to file complaints
that have no basis. If for some reason the citizen chooses he could bring the complaint to PFC
and the Chief wants the commissioners aware of the situation.
