All previous minutes WÐÐe approved by concurrence; treasurer's report gave a
balance of $4639.27 before payment of current sàlaries due.
Mrs. Haacke reported that the Huskego-Norway Consolidated schools board had
granted permission at its Aug. 9 meeting for the Town Library board to use
~hichever school it feels will best serve the library purpose. By concurrence ~t was decided to utilize the library at the Huskego Grade school since it is
most advantageously located in the population center, has just about enough
room for a few extra shelves for a couple of years, and is presently the head-
qUBrters for :iìm HI's. Helen Pelzmann who is the tm.Jl1. board's chief librarian
as well as the Muskego Grade school librarian.

IvIrs. Lindhorst who is now helping I'Irs. Pelzmann as a volunteer would make a good
chlbice for the clerical help needed when the large book order comes and :Hr.
Kapelka movesJ, that she be hired at the rate of $1.35 an hour for this part-
time TTork. Seconded b;/ I.Irs. Himier and carried.
I.Irs. Pelzmann then gave the following report of her work in getting book supply
bids, maJcing a beginning list and choosing the supplies and fUl'niture needed:
Three companies would give us a 30% discount but only one, Baker and Taylor, will
pay all transportation charges and do pre-binding of reqired books as well; they
can also supply quality paper-backs and thus the board took HI's. Pelzmann' s re-
commendation that this firm be chosen as supplier.
The book list is composed of the followins types(and cost of each):
Paperbacks (reprints of fiction mostly, would not be catalogued)
Juvenile (42 in number)
General adult fiction and nonfiction
(these are permanent acquisitions for our shelves)

The HcNaughton contract is essentially this: 100 books will trrive in Oct. from
a stock of new fiction and nonfiction of various types (this first shipment
actu1Üly chosen by our librarian) ; thereafter each month 12 simileI' books chosen
at the compa.ny will come and we are expected to sent back 12 of our choice. They
b:ave plastic covers and bLmk pockets and cards when they come.
The Wisconsin Free Libnry will sned some 50 or 60 books on loan for about a year.
I1rs. Pelzmann also said she's need 200 plastic covers at $8.61 a hundred,lOOO
each of plain pockets, book cards and date cards; a pubber name stamp (ownership),
card catalogue cabinet section, 2 3 shelf book shelves, book truck and bulletin
board to cover the public library shelves dUl'ing school time.~ Nr.
Kapelka will help I,Irs. Pelxmann ',,1. th the ordering and he moved and I.Irs. Himier
seconded the purchase of the preceeding supplies, equipment and books and the
approval of t:.e HcNaughton rental contract. C~ried.
:Mrs. Pelzmann submitted a total of 4&;!;- hours sDent in maldns up book lists,
reading reviews and recommendations, ~tc. Ii flat fee of $100 was agreed upon
by the board and HI's. Pelzmann.
