We have received a letter of resignation from Carolyn Beske. We have asked to refill the job, but have not yet received permission. The first half of our WCFLS payment arrived: $22,728.50. The bulk of the funds will go to purchase materials. The Kiwanis Of Muskego gave us additional copies of “Junior Phonics.” The math kits they donated last fall are processed and on the shelves as well. The Log Cabin Quilters have been so appreciativc! of our meeting room, and the hard work of the maintenance staff that they have donated a new book, Wisconsin Quilts: Stories in the Stitches, by Ellen Kort. Gary Hallet and his daughters will be presenting :I check from the 4-H popcorn sales-perhaps at tonight’s meeting. We have earmarked the money to go tO\mrd the purchase of the Newbery and Caldecott winners. Former Mayor David De Angelis has loaned the library the flag that hung in his office. It is near the entrance to the reading room. A plaque reads: “The Flag of 1:he United States of America. This is to certify that the accompanying flag was flown over the United States Capitol on April 30,1992, at the request of the Honorable Gerald D. Kleczka, Member of Congress. The flag1 was flown for Paul De Angelis on the occasion of his retirement from 22 years of service for the City of Muskego. George M. White, FAIA, Architect of the Capitol. One thing that receives comment is the displays. Student Art Month, and the Helen Mean Art Contest, sponsored by the Muskego Woman’s Club, caused lots of talk. We have decided to plan the proposed student art auction for next year. The proposal approved by the library board has been submitted to Dr. DNW. Displays included Pigs, Presidents, and Winnie-the-Pooh, .who is 75 this year.
