LIBRARIAN’S REPORT
JullylAugust. 2001
Our two vacant jobs are filled. Our new Page is Suzette Roushia, and our new Library Aide is Jean
Satorious. Suzette started Monday, and Jean will start next week, both under Linda’s careful tutelage.
Paula, Penny and Tina went to Dr. Charles Bunge’s reference update workshop at Waukesha.
There was some very good press coverage, about library building in Waukesha County, and about our
“Zink the Zebra” display. The book Ald. Rick Petialski donated to the library, Mother Nature Stories, was also
featured in the SUN.

inquiries received via email have been answered. Jane has also been busy implementing “Chapter a Day,”
which the FOL graciously agreed to fund, and she has been getting the e-book readers ready to circulate. Jane
is also taking on-line classes in Access and Word.
Penny didn’t have to make the supreme sacrifice of not talking for a week, as the children fell short of
their goal. They did read 8,860 books. Over 840 children took part in the reading program, and attendance at
programs totaled nearly 1,100. Penny will be attending teacher orientation meetings at the schools to promote
library services available to teachers, including the professional collection of big books, puppets, road shows,
and art prints. She will also be inviting teachers here.

remain as written, so that if we have to go back to requiring a library card and sign-up, the policies will be there.

This month’s quote via Russ Jankowski, from that old visualmedia fellow Alfred Hitchcock: “This
paperback is very interesting, but I find it will never replace a hardcover book; it makes a very poor doorstop.”
