LIBRARIAN’S REPORT
JunelJuly, 2001
Don Carter brought us back a picture of the Juneau Public Library from his trip to Alaska. Due to limited
space, It IS located atop a parking structure. He has had an article published in GlobalStamp News.
Jane appeared in a Milwaukee Journal SenUnel picture story about libraries and technology.
We received a thank-you from the Log Cabin Quilting Guild for the use of a meeting room, and they also
donated a children’s book about quilting called Sharing Grandma’s Gift.
school student T. J. Tersine also helped with the drive.
The library received over 400 like-new videos due to the efforts of Muskego resident Carla Regini. High
mailed it back. Needless to say the family who loEt it was grateful.
One of our overdue books arrived from New Jersey. Someone using a vacation cabin found it and
reading programs also continued throughout the month.
Computer workshops were held during June and July, with good attendance. Book groups and summer

and received an “A.”
We have two positions posted for re-hire. Our morning shelver. Ginney Kolter, is moving out of the area.
Tom Zagar from the Planning department replaced the dead pear tree. The dead evergreens at the front

There is also a dispute with the heating company over a S2,IOO bill for re-sizing the amperage in the air
conditioning unit, and a dispute with the sprinkler system people because the city feels the expansion Valve the

city staff will be doing all of the repairs to the interior caused by the roof leak, as the roofer is accepting no
responsibility.
Displays have been well received. Take a look at ‘‘porch reads” and “Zink the Zebra.”
Quote of the month, courtesy of Russ: “I find television very educational. Every time somebody turns
on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.” - Grouch0 Man.
