Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by President Christenson at 7:02P.M. 4. Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the April 25, 2001 meeting were approved on motion by T Lmke, 3. Statement of Public Notice: Given in accordance with the open meeting law on May 17, 2001 5. Next Meeting Scheduled: June 27, 2001 6. Treasurer’s Report: C. Schwalbach moved R. Jankowski seconded motion to approve payment of expenses this month of $50,136.44. Motion carried. C. Schwalbach moved R. Jankowski seconded motion to approve WCFLS expenses this month of $4.235.19. Library expenditures were zipproved and date set for the annual meeting. b. Trust Fund: $44.683.04 as of the latest report. c. Librarian’s Report: Read and plated on tile. WCFLS: Distributed Tom Hennen APL report and WCFLS NewsleHer, Library Service Effort “Reading Road Trip’ Ratio Report and Numerical Standards Comparison charts were distributed. If the standards are approved, we will be deficienl in Malerials spending in 2004 and Collection Size in 2006. Keep this in mind for budgeting purposes. Motion carried. .’ LIBRARIAN’S REPORT AprillMay, 2001 Sentry Foods in Muskego is selling pizza burgers to benefit the library on Sunday May 2Fh from lOAM - 6PM. We didn’t know about it until day before yesterday, but we have fliers at the desk. Sixth graders at Hales Corners Lutheran are displaying their handcrafted “mummies” this montbne result of their study of ancient Egypt. Students from Tess Corners and St. Paul’s were here for tours and storyhours, and Penny has begun her school visits to promote the summer reading program, “Reading R’oad Trip,” with a trip to Lakeview School. WCFLS will be giving us performances by Randy Peterson and Lil’ Rev’s Genuine Good Time Music. Author and storyteller Julia Pferdehirt, in the character of innkeeper Nancy Goodrich, tells “Stories of the Freedom Train-Wisconsin’s Underground Railroad.” The FOL are also providing summer performers. The Zoological Society of Milwaukee, in cooperation with Roundy’slPick ‘n Save, will present an animals of Africa program on Tuesday, June 12‘h at IPM. Among the attractions will be a fennec fox, a spur-thighed tortoise, a Eurasian eagle owl, a Madagascar hissing cockroach, a golden eagle, and an African1 pygmy hedgehog. @ We received a check in the amount of $21,499.50, which represents one-half of our Lakeshores, county, state, and grant payments. The other half will come in fall. Local author Ray Merkel did come in and sign his books, and we did a press release. The books we purchased with 4-H funds have been cataloged, and are on display. We also did a press release. We received a gift of paintings for the children’s section from Julie and Jim Seaton, which we will be framing. We took part in the “Spark Your Imagination @Your Library” program, in association with Culvers, and received a free children’s book-one we were just going to order. We provided packets of informatiort to Kathy Chiaverotti to distribute at a Chamber meeting, and to have on hand, describing library materials, services, and the availability of “business” cards.
