LIBRfiRIAN’S REPORT
MarchIApril, 2001
We made the front page of the SUN, with a picture of a student studying outside the
library.
The folks from Amica Insurance were here to present a check for $600, and to take
pictures of the display piece they purchased for the library. Gardening is the theme this
month in the adult display area, whereas the kids’ section is featuring materials on rain, using
umbrellas borrowed from Tina’s sister, who has a vintage clothing shop.
Hannah Misciasci, her mom, and Fred Washa came to see me with the $216 check from
4H popcorn sales at the fair. We have us’ed their money in the past to buy children’s books,
and this was their wish again. We have nifty gift plates Fred designed on his computer, and
when we have cataloged and processed 1:he books, I will do a press release and a display.
Regular programming continued, and we also had a visit from the Mom’s Club.
Charlene and Penny attended a children’sNA workshop in Madison, and Penny went to
see Carolyn Feller Bauer, whose workshops are packed with ideas on storytelling and other
methods of sharing literature with children.
Penny represented the library at a parent summer information meeting last night at St.
Paul’s, and went to the WMCA preschool for their “Week of the Young Child” program.
Our thoughts are with Carolyn Beslke, whose husband, Arnit, recently passed away.
Many of you will know Mr. Beske from his years with the school district. Carolyn hasn’t been
with the library long, but we’ve come to value her calm graciousness at the check-out desk,
where has has worked afternoons since October.
