Statement of Public Notice: Given in accordance with the open meeting law on November 20, 2000. Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the Oclober 25.2000 meeting were approved on motion by D. Carter seconded by 8. Yahr, Next Meeting Scheduled: December 27, 2000. Treasurer's Report: B. Yahr moved T Uttke seconded motion to approve payment of expenses to date of $66,424.08. Motion carried. B. Yahr moved C. Schwalbach seconded motion to approve WCFLS expenses to date of $5.464.52. Motion carried. Communications a. Communications: None. b. Guest Comments: None. c. Introduce New Board Member: Remove from agenda. a. FOL. Board meeting on November 4 at 7:OO PM in meeting room #E. FOL 1999-2000 IRS b. Trust Fund $31,607.88 as of tht! latest report. c. Librarian's Report Read and placed on file. Patron comment sheets were circulated. d. WCFLS: Distributed System newsletter and APL report. b. Automatioflechnology: The onqoing computer problems were resolved with a new sofhvare a. Pending Fine Disputes: None. product. The E-book training for Waukesha County librarians will be on December 12. c. Long Range Planning D. Carter moved, C. Schwalbach seconded motion to use the survey in the library starting in January. Motion carried. d. Libraw Card Policy: B. Yahr moved for approval of second reading of Borrower's cards policy as described in DRAFT 2. T Uttke seconded. Motion carried. e. Provision of Coffee: Ray appeared before the COW. Committee would like to have coffee in the library. The COW wanted the public to have access to all meeting rooms. Discussion on proposal. What about noise/smell? Cleanup problems? What about FOL gifl shop? Removing one room from use would not be a problem when City Hall reopens. Board will for next meeting. respond in writing to COW. Holly will draft response using board comments. On the agenda f. 2001 Fee Schedule: R. Jankowski moved for approval of fint reading. B. Yahr seconded. Motion carried. g. Meeting Room Policy: There was a violation last month. A for-profit firm held a meeting. Lots of discussion on fee schedule for rooms. 'Draft proposed changes 11-00" approved, with fees amended to $25 for 2 hours - $25 for every hour after for 25 person room. $50 for 2 hours - $50 every hour after for :50 person room etc, on motion of R. The trees have been placed in the window area at the south end of the library. We received more phonics-related materials from the Kiwanis Club of Muskego. All city employees have been issued nametags. Penny told stories at Halloween to Pack '100. and donated the check she was given to the FOL. for the tree lighting this weekend. Thanks to Wayne Delikat, George Wolwark, and Penny Halle, We may be given a live Christmas tree folr inside the library, as well as receiving an outside tree who are organizing these. We also have a new artificial tree, a gift of the Treba family, but we may keep it in storage this year, if the livct tree materializes. entrance, and looks right at home there. Speaking of decorations, the large wreath given us by the FOL is hanging over the front The fencing around the library has been tmpleted, with the addition of the fence along the back of the property. Charlene went to a workshop called "Wastebasket or Filing Cabinet," about records retention. When the city revised their records retention policy earlier this year, the library was not time permits, I would like to work up such a schedule, and make it part of the LB policy. Included, as there was no speciflc statutory reference to iibrary records in that context. When Penny attended a meeting of the system IPR Committee. They are planning ways in which libraries can be promoted across the county. The WCFLS Board, and the county board have materials. So far, they are working with an independent bookseller and a real estate firm. endorsed the concept of the system parhering with private enterprise to produce promotional available after the first of the year. The handheld reader device portion of the e-book grant has Mellanie presented an e-books workshop to our staff. The NetLibraw.com materials will be been put on hold for six months to see how the market shakes out, after the sale of Rocket E- Book. presented by Mary Tooley. a gift of WCFLS and the Friends. Besides the regular programming, we had a Children's Book Week "Elephant Extravaganza," The Friends have purchased or are purchasing several items for the library, including more 'Return Books Here" trucks, correctly sized chairs for the children's area, and a kiosk where we can display community events posters. We received a state aid payment fm WCFLS, in the amount of $555, and a book grant of $865, which we used to purchase Mitchell auto repair manuals.
