LIBRARIAN’S REPORT
SeptemberlOctober, 1999
The Muskego Woman’s Club has given the library $3,500 to use toward the
purchase of new children’s books. This is part of the “Libraries 2000” project. The
money needs to be spent before yoars’ end. Needless to say, I took the to-order box
home last night!
A few fund-drive donations have come across my desk as well, and have been
forwarded to the Friends. We received a check from a gentleman who had read the
article in the Sun, along with a verl kind letter. We also heard from the Wisconsin
Kiters, who have done classes at city hall. Library staff who knew the late Paul De
Angelis also contributed to the fund drive in memory of our friend.
Penny attended Waukesha County Literacy meetings, and conducted
Lapsitters, preschool storyhours, IRavenous Readers, Bookworms, and the BARS
reading groups. She also made the annual pilgrimage to the CCBC in Madison, and
attended a workshop on the Internet and children.
Charlene went to a conference on serving the aging population.
Bouchercon, a nationwide convention for mystery lovers, was held in
Milwaukee, organized by Gary Niebuhr, Director at Greendale PL. Penny brought
back lots of inspiration for the mystery group.
Jane went to a grant-writing workshop, and with Penny, conducts the mystery
readers’ group, and acts as advisor to the Tudor Oaks reading group.
Margot and Jane went to Mernet demos at the high school. Jane will be
conducting such sessions as part of the TEACH grant.
This month’s artist is Chris Eiberbardy, who makes shell pictures, and paints on
feathers.
