4. Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the April 28.1999 meeting were approved on motion

libraries, where she held a similar position. These vacancies resulted from the promotion of
Margot Eigenberger to fill Phyllis Maki's jot) as interloan librarian, and Rosemary Hallada's move
up north. (We have talked to both of them since they left. and they're doing well.) Of course
Judy's promotion means that her former job is open. We are hoping a Page will take it, which
would leave that position to be filled. Then there is the new Library Clerical job, which begins
July 1". . . Add vacations to the vacancies, and you can see we've had an interesting month. In
addition, we have an employee facing a serious health issue, and we will need to hope for the
best and wait to see what will happen.
We have been busy filling positions. Judith Hollfelder went full time this week, and a new
interlibrary loan system, and from CD-ROM to Internet-based cataloging. Neither transition has
been exactly smooth. and we have taken more than our fair share of Joe's and Alex's time
about computers and computer services in the new library. Board members will receive
lately. Joe and I have also been digesting !he network plan presented by Schenk & Associates,
packets of background reading about the hternet in libraries and the filtering debate. We have
already had questions from customers, wh'o have requested a list of library board members.
