Carter, K. Chiaverotti. R. Jankowski, P. Mea, R. Rammer. C. Schwalbach, and Director H. Sanhuber. C. Stewart and B. Yahr were absent. 3. Statement of Public Notice: Given on February 17, 1999. 4. Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the January 27 meeting were approved on motion R. 6. Treasurer's Report: R. Christenson moved R. Jankowski seconded motion to approve 5. Next Meeting Scheduled: March 24,1999. expenses to date of $27,705.96. Motion c:mied. R. Christenson moved R. Jankowski seconded motion to approve Federated System credit of $2.23. Motion carried. FOL: Ray reports 60 exhlibitors so far with approximately $2800 in booth fees. Bowyer from Wayne and Arlene Salentine. b. Trust Fund: Women's club donated $200 and received a memorial for Mert c. Librarian's Report: Read and placed on file. Furniture bid opening is on March 16 at 2:OO PM. A patron complained to the Mayor about receiving an overdue notice and the item had been returned. Library Board Policy Review: Review proposed changes on first three pages Russ Jankowski Secretary LIBRARIAN‘S REPORT JanualylFebruary. 1999 Final details necessary to prepare the furnitorelshelving bid materials, and preparation of the annual financial and statistical reports took a great deal of time this month. The bid opening is set for Tuesday, March 16‘h at 2:OO. Before: then, I need to get bids on moving the shelving, so the city can decide on which shelving alternate they would prefer. A patron who received an overdue notice cm an item she said she’d already returned contacted the Mayor. Overdue notices go out every week. unless vacation or illness interrupts the schedule. This patron’s item was found on the shelf, not checked in, and mis-shelved at the bottom of a stack of magazines, a section which had been shelfread the week before by an adult volunteer”al1 strange happenings. Our staff person apologized and explained that the item’s return and the notice must have crossed in the mail, that there was no charge, and that the record had been cleared. The patron was insulted, said our staff person was rude, and called the Mayor. I am writing a letter. Margot is taking an “Introduction to Reference” class via ETN. Jane went to a workshop on local history-collecting, organizing, and preserving. Tom Hennen, new WCFLS Director, was at the February APL meeting, and we will be beginning work on the Crossover issue again soon. Our T-I line will be operational soon. We’re waiting for a router. We met with the firm who is designing the computer network for the new library. We will be taking part in a special needs youth grant, “Read and Play Today.” It will allow us to expand our collection and improve our services to children with disabilities and their families.
