Stewart seconded motion to approve 1998 Federated System expenses of $1,994.25. Motion carried. C. Stewart moved R. Jankowski seconded motion to approve I999 expenses of $20,704.85. Motion carried. Communications after observing Bookworms discus:sion group and a letter from a patron about the checkout receipt not being custorner friendly. 8. Old Business the library site sign. R. Jane Genzel, Barb Yahr, and Ray Christenson went to the Marquette Library to learn about grant writing. a. Communications: Received a thank you letter from a library science student b. Library Automationmeclmology: No report. bids I through 8, IO, and 12 were approved. Bid awarded to Guenther Wagner Johnson. c. Building Pmgram: The base bid was $1 million less than budgeted. Alternate Discussed meeting roodpartition accountability. May cost less to get all new shelving instead of moving old shelves. Funliture bids to go out soon. at next meeting. Russ Jankowski Secretary 0 0 0 LIBRP.RIAN’S REPORT December, 1998/January, I999 Besides the regular storyhours and reading groups, we had two Scout toUrS. Penny went to Hartland for a childnm’s services meeting, and attended the meeting Of the Waukesha County Literacy Council. Jane went to Tudor Oaks for thelr reading group’s meeting. They are planning a joint reading group meeting with students at Bay Lane School, “Generations.” Linda and Penny, and others, including Penny’s husband, Dennis, have cleaned and organized our storage space. We needed to inventory the shelving stored downstairs, and anything we can do now will make the movd easier. We found some items for the Muskego Historical Society sale, sent a typewriter over to the Building department, and have a few Small items to offer to the remaining libraries who still have manual circulation systems. tell us the Lavender Bookworm was closin(g, and Elm Grove was able to take books for their huge March booksale. We were able to do the Friends of Elm Grove Library a good turn. Jane Mundro called to Our January display consists of (part!) of a sports card collection. No one can say we don’t run the gamut ... Besides the usual APL meetings, WQ have met several times with the architects, and I’ve had more classes on doing personnel evaluations. We received a gift of beautifully-prcduced books on the history of the Mormon Church, brought to us by a library user who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day materials which would meet public libraries’ selection criteria by avoiding anything which would Saints. The Church worked with the American Library Association to assemble a packet of promote the Mormon religion over others. These items are suitable for school reports. as well as for adult readers interested in religion. We had an incident where a minor was handing out politicallpinspired business cards in the library. Our present policy does not specifically cover this situation, and for our next meeting, I will be proposing language take11 from the city’s Municipal Code to add to Library Board Policy.
