RUSS Jankowski Secretary L1BRA:RIAN'S REPORT December, 1996/January, 1997 The "American Spindle Art" of: Muskego resident Lisa Tibbals graces the display case this month. Margot was featured as a "Pe1:sonality" in the Muskego Sun. No matter how busy it gets, she keeps a smile, and is greatly deserving of this special rec:ognition. Lindhorst, third Director of the library, who passed away We received a donation from t.he city in honor of Margaret recently. The Special Needs and the Ch..ldren's Services Committees met in December. WCFLS has formed a Cataloging Committee, but Charlene and I, who do the cataloging,, do not have time to attend. Perhaps after automation? Charlene is working to get the reference section on the computer, and I am working in adult non- fiction, adding subject headings to our holdings, headings which were not included when they were downloaded from WISCAT. Jane has attended a series o:E ETN programs on book selection in the areas of business, legal, religious, poetry, and reference materials. Lane librarian (and FOL member) Jim Brownlow, with Jane and "Generations" is a reading g:roup experiment engineered by Bay Penny's cooperation. A group of Bay Lane students, Penny and Jim, and Jane and the Tudor Oaks reading group, are meeting next week to discuss the Newbery Award book Walk Two Moons. If successful, the group will meet quarterly. Barcoding: Between September 30th and today, 438 hours have been donated. Juvenile fiction i:j DONE. The Easy section is done from A-Hoban, and from S-2. Juvenile non-fiction is done from through the letter H, and ad.alt non-fiction has yet to be 000-594; 599.6-799; 92Oc-999. Adult fiction is nearly done to Linda and Elaine who are :preparing for the volunteers, and started. We have been avera,ging 10 people a week. Many thanks make the transition to an automated circ much easier. resolving the inevitable pro'blems.
