Chamber of Commerce Business Fair,, with a display and handouts. Thanks to
Donna for compiling the Business/::nvestment/Job search flier, and to Penny
With the help of Library Board and FOL members, we participated in the
eor doing a storyhour.
Barcoding is well underway in the children's section, and we hope to
begin barcoding the adult fiction in November. Adult non-fiction is
scheduled to begin printing next week.
Penny represented Waukesha County Area Storytellers at the Wisconsin
Storytellers' Guild Get-together j.n Hubertus, telling "The Tailor."
Country Peddlar Craft Cooperative has the display case this month.
APL was held in Mukwonago. The new facility is wonderful. Don Carter
paid a visit too, and has photos t.o share.
storyhours, and various book discussion groups, is on-going. Day-off-
Regular programming, including preschool and three-year-old
school movies are scheduled for Friday. Penny also did a Boy Scout tour
and visited the Cooperative Children's Book Center.
We have been blessed with selreral community service volunteers, so
some "housework" is getting done, e.g. washing magazine bins, making 1997
magazine shelf labels, installing shelving to hold the Muskego Sun back
issues.
a The next Trustee Breakfast wi,ll be Saturday, November 16, from 8:45-
0:OO at Waukesha Public Library. County Exec Dan Finley and Frances de
sabel, DLCL Specialized Services Consultant, will discuss W2 and its
possible effects on county libraries.
An article will appear in the! next city newsletter, discussing the
referendum and a possible library move to Parkland Mall.
Budget cuts have been made. -$2,000 in print; equipment maintenance
budget has been cut from $5,278 tcl $1,000, and the library trust fund has
has been reduced to reflect a new copier maintenance contract; the overtime
been designated as the source of funding for the proposed receipt printer
which will take the place of the Gaylord machines. I propose sending a
memo to the Common Council regardi.ng the overtime cuts.
I will be on vacation the week of November 11th.
