Stewart at 9:35 P.M. Secretary L1BRAF:IAN'S REPORT July/August, 1996 Muskego's children met the "Snake challenge" by reading over 12,000 books this summer. Se,? the pictures in the library's entry way. The program has just ended, and we'll have a final report for the next meeting. There would be space in the c.ity's exhibit area, if the library or the FOL wanted to part'icipate in the Business Expo. I have been asked to teach by the UW.-M library school, and will be unavailable every other Saturday, including this one. Penny will be doing a storyhour. We have library service brochures we could make available. Perhaps promotion of the new library project by the LB or FOL, depending on what we know at the time? I need to arranged. let the Mayor's office know 0.E our interest, so space can be We had a visit from Tom Strange, new WCFLS Director, who is touring each facility and mee-ting the staff. The System will be participating in several gran-ts next year, including serving clients with a developmental disability, a continuation of the Internet grant, and funds to investigate methods of county-wide library automation planning. An interloan meeting was held this month, as was APL. The Trust Fund received a $1011.00 donation. The FOL booksale made over $300.00, and the silent auction of materials and equipment netted the city about $1,200.00. We are beginning to run barcodes for adult fiction. Nearly all of the juvenile non-fiction had run, and then the printer aborted itself, or the program, or something dire like that. We thought we were going to have to gene:cate the remaining thousand records by hand, but Joe figured out how to use an AS 400 trick to fool the AARCS program into doing what we wanted. Whew! Linda is off to Midland, Texas for the two-day AARCS Users' Group meeting. This is where we lobby the vendor to work on problems with the system, and learn about coming enhancements. Last year, the meeting was in Sheboygan, so Joe and I could go too, and attend all of the work sessions ... This month's exhibit is courtesy of the 4-H and highlights their Waukesha County Fair participation.
