LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
February, 1996
During the holidays, a resident of Tudor Oaks came to see me regarding
the formation of a monthly book discussion group similar to the one we
hold here. While we don't have much staff time available, I felt we
could act in an advisory capacity. Sheridan Ash, a graduate of the
UW-Milwaukee School of Library and Information Science, and a
volunteer at our library, offered to lead the group, so she and Penny
both attended the organizational meeting. The group began with about
fifteen members, who are now reading Cather's My Antonia.
Phyllis attended the Interlom Committee meeting at Waukesha.
In addition to regular programming, we had visits from Peace Little
Lambs and Mustard Seed Preschools. Penny also spoke to the child care

preschool storyhour, so they can see Penny put into practice what she
demonstrated to their classes. So, with the cooperation of the
parents, preschool storyhour is going "on the road" to the high school
this coming Thursday.
Jane has begun to alternate with Margot in helping with storyhour.
This will get her out from behind the keyboard a couple of hours a
month, and it also means that the same person does not always have to
work the check-out desk on bL.sy, long, Thursdays.

materials than anyone else in Waukesha County. Not on a budget of

Penny attended a workshop on serving homeschoolers, and went to
Madison for the annual Summer Reading Program planning meeting.

or book reviewing to earn enough points. It is difficult to teach or
to take a course when one is not sure of having one evening a week
consistently free of meetings or other work-related obligations.
