LIBR IAN'S REPORT
August, 1995
An informative workshop was h,eld August 29th on parliamentary
procedure and the open meetin,gs law. I have notes and handouts
if anyone wants to see them.
was put in my office, and mine will be used in the library. I am
When the monitor arrived which will help us comply with ADA, it
already noticing a decrease in back, neck and shoulder problems
because I no longer have to "hunchback" to see the screen.
Thanks to Joe Sommers who looked into what was available. The
other terminals will be ordered October 2nd, so they arrive by
the end of the year.
Although they are popular with readers, we receive more donations
of romance paperbacks than space will allow, so during the week
of August 21st, the Friends of the Library's year-round used
booksale expanded from the lobby of city hall into the library
itself. During regular library hours we sold the books five for
$1.00, and raised over $200.00 for the FOL.
To date, the Friends' membership has increased by 125 people, and
donations have amounted to about $1,500.00. Besides sending
money, some people have written kind words as well, stressing the
importance of libraries in general, and thanking our library for
good service, which is very heartening.
All LB members should have received an invitation to the FOL
sponsored lunch being held at the library September 20th.
We received a $100.00 donation to the trust fund from Ruth Dague.
Penny went to a safety workshop, and a meeting of the Waukesha
County Literacy Council.
I will be on vacation the week of September 25th.
