Paula Martinez was appointed to the board. Holly read

FOL membership letter is ready to be distributed. It will be sent
to every boxholder in the city. Discussed enclosures and cost of mailing
Trust fund money will be put into certificates of deposit with staggered
letter. A meeting will be held with Jane Mundro to get a firm quote.

account. Librarians report read and placed on file. First budget meeting
will be September 13. Distributed Waukie-Talkie for July 1995. Ray
reported on WCFLS strategic planning and crossover borrowing. A workshop

BrooKf ield. Card catalog notes will be transferred to the on1 ine
catalog. Ideas for barcading project were offered. No easy way to do it.
Printing supplies and software already purchased so printing will be done
as soon as possible. Application to booKs under study.
C. Stewart moved for approval of new hire, Nancy Lobe, second D.
Carter. Motion carried. School board - Common council committee has not
met. Talked about cooperation between school and library.

DeAngelis, a graduate studer:t in library science at UW-M. She
will both observe and work hands-on, thus gaining practical
experience in the day-to-day operations of a public library.
The interloan committee and the Literacy Council met this month,
but libraries' programming for children generally curtails
workshops and meetings during the summer.
Our summer reading program was very busy, offering bedtime
stories, beat-the-heat movies, and guest performers, including a
courtesy of the MacDonald's Corporation.

The "Wild Ones" Junior high book discussion group chose Joan
Aiken's The Wolves of Wiloughby Chase as their favorite book of
the summer. Most of them have signed up for the school-year
session, which is also sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
The TAB (Teen Advisory Board) readers picked Children of the
River by Linda Crew as their favorite. These young people read
independently from a list of books we provided, and met once to
discuss their choices.
The students in both TAB and "Wild Ones" agreed that they had
read things which they normally would have missed.
We received a $400.00 donation for the Trust Fund from Martinez
Enterprises, owners of the new MacDonald's.
Penny has been asked to be guest moderator. of the Pewaukee Public
Library adult reading group's August 22nd meeting.
The August display will profile the activities of Mucky 4-H.
I have four weeks' vacation to take before the end of the year.
I will be on vacation the week of August 21st, working on the
revision to my children's literature course manual, which is due
in Madison on December 1st.
