Carter, second N Berken RUSS Jankowski Secretary LIBRARIAN'S REPORT December, 1994 Lots of staff vacations left us very short-handed. The customers were served during this period, and everything else was "piled." This is not the best way to begin the new year, but so it goes.. . The chronic backlog si.tuation was exacerbated by the resignation of Judith Wiedenkeller, who wanted to work part-time. The day following her letter of intent, a part-time job opened in city hall, and Judy started there today. The open position Librarian I - Circulation is being posted and advertised. This person handles all overdue/fine matters, and all library card/borrower file operations. In addition, s/he also works at the circulation and referencle desks, and will do more of that when automation is implemented. I was in hopes of filling the job from within, but so far there has not been any interest in promotion. standstill, except for Charkne, who is entering adult audiocassettes in her "spare time," and Holly, who is getting new the "M's." Non-fiction wait:: at the end of the alphabet.. . fiction records ready to be entered into Bibliofile. She is in Volunteer Donna Jankowski has been entering patrons into the computer, and former staff member Teri Searing has finished realia and gone on to magazines. Since Linda is doing Judy's job, automation is again at a Students from St. Paul's came for a tour, and regular programming continued, except for pre-school storyhour, which took a short holiday break. Penny attended the WCFLS Special Users' Needs Committee and the Mock Newbery/Caldecott meeting. She was invited to meet with the school district's "Curric.ulum Committee," and will be attending other meetings of this group and formally serving as school/library liaison. Artist of the Month for .January is watercolorist Bert Ponzi.
