B d'I.,PlC, I le LIBRhRIAN'S REPORT JANUARY, 19 9 2 We are getting so used to every month's circulation being over 10,000, that when we have a miserable month like December, where the circ was only close to 8,000, we are disconcerted. It was a slow month, but many people save vacation for December, so we were lightly staffed. The returns since Thanksgiving have been heavy, and the shelves are crowded. The day after Christmas, we slipped and shelved nearly 1,500 books. The new year has started with a bang, with 2,700 books being circulated in four days. We are beginning to gather statistics for the annual report. It looks as though circulation is about the same as last year. Penny saw the author Avi at his recent Milwaukee appearance. She also represented the system at the annual state Summer Reading Program meeting. The '92 theme, after many protests, has been changed from the probably sexist "Hats Off to Captain Quest" (Guess what gender the Captain would Wild, Read!" have been?) to simply "The Quest.'' The '93 theme is "GO The December display was done by the Tudor Oaks Sketch Class. January features photography of Jerry Komassa. Called "Muskego at Work," the pictures are intended to be featured in a book by Mr. Komassa. break. Storyhours begin again next week after a short Christmas Videos are being processed in our spare time, and we hope to have enough done to open the collection in March. I Want to do some publicity first, and we need to move some furniture and re-arrange the circulation desk area.
