LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
March 5, 1991
BUSY! Busy! We greeted our rlew staff member, Rosemary Hallada,
with whoops of joy, and she's already hard at work. Today she and
Margot, with help from Judy, ::helved over 1,000 items.
We had a scout tour, storyhours, visits from three day care
centers, and Readers' Choice Movies, which have been averaging an
attendance of fifty, not bad, considering this is a repeat
program.
March is Student Art Month, belt talented as are the exhibitors,
they will have to go some to t.op the quantity of comments received
on Rev. Sam Faust's "Lone Ranser" collection. The - Sun had an
attractive picture.
Our first federated system check arrived, $17,872.
Several ETN classes have been offered this winter, including
services to seniors.

Penny and I wrote a $5,600 grant for reading readiness materials.
The common council was informed.
Judy was featured on the front page of the She was reading a
story about a duck at the time. The audience of preschoolers
looked totally involved.
Penny attended a workshop in Fladison for the summer reading
program. The theme is "Wheel:;, Wings and Words."
The FOL received a donation in the amount of $50.00 which will be
matched (and perhaps doubled) by Wisconsin Bell.
National Library Week is April. 14-20. The theme is, "Kids Who
Read Succeed." A nation-wide event, "The Great American Read
Aloud," is being planned.
My librarian grade I certification has been renewed. I needed 15
credits and earned 39.
We have been working on a method to expedite overdues which will
be acceptable to the computer.. We have decided to use the
collection agency monthly, rat.her than waiting once a year and

eliminated the follow-up phone call. The current schedule has
been implemented as follows:
2 weeks overdue - 1st notice
4 weeks overdue - letter warning of collection agency
8 weeks overdue - referral to collection agency

are resolved more quickly and professionally with less staff
bill. So far, (two months), this has worked very well. Matters
back because we do not wait a:; long to "get tough." This is
involvement, and we have a better change of getting the materials
important because many out-of--print items cannot be replaced.
