LIBRARIAN'S REPORT July 3, 1990 We set two new records this month: most items checked out on one day (over 1,100) and highest monthly total (a few shy of 13,000). The big news this month is tk.e summer reading program. Over 700 full. Program attendance haz: been super. Over 60 were at the children have registered, and all programs with size limits are preschool hour, and 45 attencled Melissa Matz's program for first Munchin Lunchin: 89 att.ended bedtime storyhour; 95 came to preschoolers, are gifts from WCFLS.) Yuck Food Day attracted 79, readers. (Six programs, three for readers, and three for and the winning concoction was a drink, "Swamp Water With Bugs" a book. Penny and Teri decorated the library in accordance with (i.e. raisins). We have the recipes, and hope to compile them in the program's food theme. Special thanks to Penny's son, Timm, who painted the picnic table and created the huge Coke can. Timm also helped on opening day of the summer program, as did Teri's boys. Charlene Lenzen and her son, Matt, have been shifting the reference collection to make room for the Muskego Sun boxes. Our volunteer corps also includes the following: Lillian Gordon types cards/pockets for all Erma Kelber cl.eans records after circulation Jane Mundro Maryanne Peroceschi indexing plays in collection compiles new books list: data Christy Sanhuber Andy Stewart art fair preparation: data entry miscellaneous clerical tasks Edith Wollermann vertical file maintenance and poetry index magazines entry We have been especially grateful for these helpers this summer because the promised YEP and "fan-belt" help has not materialized, though we have been informed that a YEP student will begin later this week. Interlibrary loan and WISCAT searching meetings were held this month. In September, 1988, a child kas injured in the children's area. The mother feels he fell off the readers' roost, though that is not clear. An insurance arbitration hearing was held, and the arbitrator ruled in the city's favor. I am expecting a letter from the lawyer for the city who will be recommending that the roost be modified so that it cannot be climbed on, to protect the city from liability in any future incidents.
