Present: Board members Raymond Christenson, Ruth Leichtfuss,
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 P.M. by President R.
Christenson. Agenda was approved by motion of J. Wolf: seconded, R.
Leichtfuss. Minutes of March 6, 1990 meeting were approved by motion
of R. Leichtfuss: seconded by J. Wolf. The next meeting is scheduled
May 1, 1990.
Wolf, to approve March expenditures of $19,015.07. Motion carried.
R. Christenson moved, J. Wolf seconded, to approve March WCFLS
expenditures of $3,868.67. Mot.ion carried.
Treasurer's report: Motion by R. Christenson, seconded by J.
Communications: Notification from WCFLS of joint library
trustee meeting Saturday, May l!)th, 8:30-9:30 A.M.
Guest comments: none.
Old Business:
of the art fair. Profit will be around $5,000, and the Friends will
make a check out to the trust fund as soon as the remaining bills are
received. Paid attendance was :L,400, and the TV set was won by a
resident at Tudor Oaks. A fair evaluation meeting will be held at the
library April 17th.
a. Friends of the Library: June Wolf reported on the success
c, b. Trust Fund: Another CD has been purchased, and those
which have come due have been r'znewed for another year.
c. Librarian's report: read and placed on file. Copy
attached.
d. Interlibrary cooperation: We discussed the Inform
Wisconsin proposal, which guarantees a basic level of service and
support statewide, and which promises property tax relief.
e. Automation: Information on WISCAT was distributed.
f. Videotapes: The WC:?LS grant has been written and
submitted.
New Business:
Manual were reviewed. It was suggested that portions of this material
be incorporated in the next library board policy update.

The WCFLS long-range plan will begin to be reviewed in May,

LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
April 3, 1990
In June, 1989 we had our highest circulation ever, 12,760. In
March we matched it exactly. Some comparative statistics:

The WCFLS 1990 check came in the amount of $22,376.00.
Audiocassettes, a gift from the Lion's Club, are now ready for
checkout. A list of the new tapes was sent to the club, and a
press release was prepared. E:ach tape has a gift plate, so people
know the donor.
A lengthy article about children's magazines and OUT library
appeared in the Sun.
We will be sharing the display case in April with the Muskego
Woman's Club, honoring the centennial of the GFWC and their
involvement in the history of public libraries. This will also
tie in with National Library Week.
MITINET cataloging class. Penny attended an SRP meeting and
Phyllis attended an ILL meeting. Charlene and Linda went to a
represented us at the A-V meeting.
Storyhours continue, as well as occasional programs for groups
such as the daycare providers.
I was honored to be asked to teach two sections of children's
children's fantasy literature, trying to relate the principles of
literature at UW-M. I spoke on mythopoetic archetypes in
literary criticism to the practical world of the classroom.
