lbm19900206LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
February 6, 1990
The year started with gusto, and circulation was close to 12,000.
The library will be receiving materials worth $1,500, paid for by the library system. The intention is for libraries to improve their reference collections.
Pamela Huth, the new librarian at the high school came for a visit and tour. She has been very cooperative and helpful.
Many donations have come in, a result of good publicity. We have also had several piçtures in the newspaper, and a kind mention in an article about the day care providers group.
Storyhours continue, and we've begun planning school visits to promote the summer program.
The huge summer reading book made by the children who attended the zoo party was on display at the library last week, and drew much
favorable comment.
The reimbursement check for the last six months of Lakeshores' circulation has arrived, in the amount of $4,707.21.
Until we automate and the problem is solved, we will be blacking out any signatures on library cards so we protect patron privacy.
The city is applying for "block grant" funds. One focus is what
can be done to make city services more available to handicapped
persons. The library's portion concerns handware and furniture to automate the card catalog.
