MUSKEGO PUBLIC LIBRAliY BOARD CITY HALL
Present: Board members R. Christenson, J. lioberson, J. Wolf, R. Leicht-
fuss, J. Mundro, D. Sanders, a.nd Director Holly Sanhuber.
Meeting was called to order at 7:3O by President Christenson. Agenda
was approved on motion J. Wolf, second J. Koberson. Minutes of the
September 5 meeting were appro.ved on motion J. Mundro, second R.
Leichtfuss. Next meeting schesluled November 7.
Treasurer's report: Motion 11. Christenson, second J. Wolf to approve
September expenditures in amount o€ $15,028.13. Motion carried.
Motion R. Christenson, second .J. Wolf to approve federated system fund
expenditures in amount of $4,517.38. Motion carried.
Communications:
1) Holly advised Dayment received from Lakeshore System in amount of
$4,658.16 for pekiod January to June. -
2) Friends of Wisconsin Libraries September Newsletter circulated.

The net amount for lvluskego 1990 funding is $27,725.00.
Automation: Holly recapped decisions reached at the October 2
capital budget session. The City will not upgrade automation for
a year. The Library did receive pledge of committment to go on
system by January 1, 1991. The year wait can be used to weed, complete
inventory and retroconversion of titles.

Holly advised the 1990 bud@:et was presented to finance committee
September 27.

LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
September's circulation of 9,500 seems quiet to the staff after
the wild summer of '89. Besides over 35,000 in circulation,
40,500 items were shelved, 6,500 questions were answered, and the
average walk-in traffic was 275 people daily.
Our funding from WCFLS should increase about $4,000 in 1990, and
there should be a slight increase from Lakeshores Library System
as well, though the exact amount is uncertain.
I have been asked to update the course manual for the children's
hunk of it on vacation from October 6-16.
literature class I teach for the UW-Extension, and will be doing a
Reading specialists from the school district will again work in
conjunction with our staff 'LO present parent programs in
October-November, which wil:L be held concurrently with preschool
storyhours.
AARCS/IBM and Data Trek ULS demos were attended this month.
The new ILL equipment, plus manuals and software has arrived. We
wil.1 be instructed in its u.se this fall.
WCFLS is working on their long-range plan, with input from all
committees and staff.
Penny will be representing the system at the 1991 summer program
planning session.
A storyhour was held for day care providers.
Teri attended an ETN session on children's books.
An article and picture (Penny and gorilla) appeared in the
newspaper about our KOKO raffle. Proceeds will go toward
children's programming.
