Noli. - I .r I LIBRARIAN'S REPORT July 5, 1989 e What a month! Our circulation was 12,760, over 7,000 of which was children's books. The summer reading program, which began June 8th, accounted for a supplied by WCFLS were gone within two weeks. satisfying portion of our business. The 600 reading booklets attended. Charlene has begun to weed the vertical files, and Linda is finishing retro on WISCAT. Every year when a new microfiche comes, Linda tries to match items which we have been unable to match in the past. Now, because automation is coming closer, we are looking hard at the items which no one else in the state has they would not be worth the cost to place into MARC format. If newer, or are they unique? If the former, we may discard them, as the latter, we will need to enter them manually when we automate, thus contributing original cataloging to the state database for to AACR2 cataloging practices, which neither Charlene nor I the first time. Since it i:; in MARC format, and strictly adheres learned in grad. school, it may be a slow process ... The state has adopted many changes to the annual report form, making us glad we collect a:; many statistics pertaining to library use and volume of business as we do.
